Note 5 downloaded apps started crashing without apparent reason
Problem: I have not downloaded any new apps but suddenly Facebook would freeze ,then Instagram, then contacts, texts stopped going out and coming through, I set an alarm this morning and phone was frozen on time I set it for it was an hour later I awoke and no went off screen stuck. When I plug phone into computer to back up pictures and such computer sees so card but not phone.
Troubleshooting: By any chance, did the phone receive a new firmware update because if so, then there’s a chance that the cause of the crashes and freezes is corrupt caches. At least, this is the first thing we must assume. That said, you need to wipe the system cache, here’s how…
Turn off the device.
Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key.
When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
Press the Power key to select.
When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
Press the Power key to restart the device.
If this procedure failed or if there wasn’t any firmware update, then you have no other choice but to perform the master reset. But before anything else, boot your phone in safe mode and backup all your data while in that state and then follow these steps to reset the device:
Turn off your Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.
Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.
Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.
Press the Vol Down button again until the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.
After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.
Note 5 asking for the Google account after master reset
Problem: I did a factory reset with the volume, home, and power keys all together. Now it is asking for the email that was synced to the device. I put that info in, but it says please use email synced with this device. I did all the recovery stuff, and nothing. I’ve called Google and AT&T, no help. They say I’ve got to let it stay off for 72hrs. I don’t know what to do. .Please help. I mean what halogens after the 72hrs? Will I be able to sign in? Do I need to make a new Gmail account? This phone is brand new and I’ve used it half a month. Sick to my stomach! Just got the Samsung Gear S watch, and can’t use it cuz of phone.
Answer: Yes! You really need to wait for 72 hours before you can set up the phone again and you need to use the Google account you used prior to the reset. This is an additional security feature implemented by Google and you can never bypass it.
Note 5 standard ink color changed from black to blue
Problem: My Galaxy Note5 was returned to me from Samsung repair with the standard ink being changed from Black to Blue. When I contacted Samsung Support about the problem Samsung support said that the latest update which was released on 12/14/2015 changed the Standard Ink Color on the Galaxy Note5 phones from BLACK INK to BLUE. Are all Galaxy Note5 phones showing standard blue ink instead of black?
Answer: I don’t quite understand what did you mean by “ink.” If you were referring to the color of the font, then nothing has changed. Aside from this, I really can’t think of anything that’s close to what you call ink color. But you know what, whatever has changed in the phone, you can restore it to factory defaults by doing the master reset. Follow the instructions in the first problem and you should be fine.
Note 5 stuck in boot loop for no apparent reason
Problem: Won’t turn on keeps repeating the first thing you see when you turn the phone on can get the wipe page.
Solution: You mean it couldn’t get past the logo or boot screen? There are various causes of this issue but since you didn’t mention any significant event that could have help us determine what the real issue is, we advice you do the most effective procedure–wiping the cache partition. Just follow the steps above.
Note 5 screen doesn’t rotate, some features can’t be changed
Problem: Screen does not rotate (I have swipe right or left can’t go from screen 4 to screen 1). Also you can’t change certain features like. on the LG. Is there a way to fix this.
Solution: Just make sure auto screen rotate is enabled and then open the web browser and open any web page and try tilting the phone to see if the screen rotates. If not, then to make it easier for you, do the master reset. If that failed either, it’s time you contacted your provider and have the phone repaired or replaced.
Fingerprint scanner not working, backup password forgotten
Problem: I don’t remember the backup password (when your fingerprint doesn’t work) I set when I activated my phone. How do I reset the backup password? I went through the entire settings but I have no idea how.
Answer: If the fingerprint scanner failed to recognize your fingerprint, all other methods placed to bypass security won’t work if the phone doesn’t have an active internet connection. In this case, all that’s left for you to do to regain access to your phone is master reset. The compromise is that you’ll lose all your data as you won’t be able to back them up.
