The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Galaxy S II has started rolling out last month. Whether you already got it, or when you’re going to, depends on where you are and where you bought your device from. Each operator has to approve of it first, so that may take a while. Subsequently, when the rollout happens differs on a country by country basis.
If you’re in the UK and bought your Galaxy S II from Vodafone, the update was supposed to be out today. However, a small delay has been admitted by Big Red. So the latest on the matter, straight from the horse’s mouth, is that it will be available tomorrow via Samsung’s KIES desktop software.
If you’d rather not use a computer to download and install the update, you’ll have to wait until April 17 (so next Tuesday), which is when the over-the-air rollout will commence.
Vodafone has been quick to blame the delay on Samsung, but who knows what the real culprit is. And one more day of waiting isn’t that big of a deal anyway, so be patient – after all, you’ve waited months so far, what’s one more day?
