We already know that the new Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 will be available in the US soon. But when exactly? Well, according to Shin Jong-kyun, president of Samsung’s mobile business, the new Android Gingerbread handset should hit the US market “sometime in August.”
Shin Jong-kyun didn’t provide more details, but we’ve heard that most major US carrier would offer the S II under different names: Samsung Function (Verizon), Samsung Attain (AT&T), and Samsung Within (Sprint).
The August launch will give Samsung’s handset a slight advantage over Apple’s new iPhone (expected to be introduced in September).
Already released in lots of countries around the world, the Galaxy S II is seen by many as one of the best smartphones ever. It reached sales of 3 million units in less than two months since its launch. Just like the original Galaxy S i9000, the S II will most probably be successful in the US, too.
