There are a number of official accessories for Samsung’s latest flagship phone, the Galaxy S III, and we’ll be taking a look at them all in the coming weeks. The first item up for review is the C Pen, a stylus in a premium writing instrument’s body. If you’re a business person on-the-go, an artistic mind, or just like to doodle from time to time, this is one accessory that might interest you.
Finished in attractive brushed metal and chrome materials, the C Pen features a stylus tip capable of performing finger touches, taps or swipes on your Galaxy S III’s screen, without leaving behind smudges or fingerprints on any of that lovely 4.8-inch Gorilla Glass 2.0 real estate.
With the C Pen, you can take quick notes, draw or edit — pretty much anything you’d expect to do with a pen and paper, or with the tip of your finger and a touchscreen device.
The stylus is the same size as any nicer pen you’ll find lying around the house and weighs about the same too, so it feels very natural when you hold it in your hand. It also has a clip on the top, making it easy to store in the front pocket of your shirt.
As for the stylus tip, it screws out and is exchangeable, should you ever find yourself needing to replace it. I can’t foresee myself ever needing to get a new one though, other than in the unfortunate event that I were to lose the entire pen itself.
Take a quick look at the C Pen in action:
What I like
Sophisticated build and feel
Sturdy, but not too heavy
Great for productivity
What I dislike
Although a rarity, the pen does seem touchy at times, with regards to how the device registers touches, taps and swipes (sometimes it takes a split second to register the first touch, while others it doesn’t)
$29.99 just seems a bit expensive for a stylus
If you find yourself taking notes constantly, or perhaps you like to play Draw Something, this is a pretty nice accessory to own. Of course, as I mentioned before, some will find this a bit pricey for their liking, but we’ll leave it to you to judge that one. If you decide you’d like to add this to your bag of Galaxy S III tricks, head over to the Samsung Store and pick one up.
Again, they run $29.99 — if the price tag doesn’t bother you, you’ll be pleased with what you get for your money.
After a quick check on Amazon, I found the C Pen available for a slightly cheaper price of $24.99 (there are 4 available at that price at the time of this review).
