Samsung's Galaxy S III ads leave Apple's iPhone in the dust
Samsung just rolled out its latest set of ads for the wildly popular Galaxy S III, and there's not a single mention in them of the iPhone. As Mashable points out, this is quite a noticeable difference from the company's previous ad, which did not hesitate to poke fun at Apple and its "Fan Boys."
The ad below shows a guy simultaneously texting and watching video on his S III. Some other dudes walk by and they are simply floored. He's all casual about it, like, "Yep, I'm texting and watching video at the same time." It's a really basic ad, but it gets the point across. And leaving Apple out of the mix was so significant on its own that Samsung didn't really need to try too hard with this one.
We're diggin' this new approach. We think it makes Samsung look far more confident in its product. And it should be confident, because so far the Galaxy S III is shaping up to be exactly what we were promised.
The phone's sleek, curved design gives it a more natural feel, rather than having to deal with any bulky hard edges. The plastic build might be a drawback for some, but if you're not overtly abusive toward your gadgets (read: Don't leave them on the hood of your car, or let your kids play with them), this shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Samsung's Galaxy S III rings in at a video viewing-friendly size, with a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display. The colors and contrast are consistently crisp, and the 8-megapixel camera does a nice job. As for the OS, this thing runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and boasts a top-of-the-line 1.5GHz S4 processor, 2GB of RAM, 2100 mAH battery and NFC capabilities. While the iPhone 5 is just around the corner (slated for a late summer/early fall launch), it might be tough waiting for it with the S III already on the market.
