Samsung has announced a new 3G model smartphone that runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box named Galaxy S3 Neo. The new S3 Neo has number GT-I9301MBIDBT and is listed on Samsung Germany’s website.
The new Galaxy S3 Neo device looks exactly and incorporates the same technical specifications like the Samsung Galaxy S 3 Neo GT -I9300 launched in 2012, but which, thanks to an enhanced RAM, can boast Android 4.4.2 operating system.
You may be wondering why Samsung would launch a similar device, well because recently Google had, in fact, announced that the Samsung Galaxy S 3 would not have been able to receive an update to the latest release of the operating system from the Mountain View company because of a RAM too narrow and busy dealing with the TouchWiz graphical user interface.
Android 4.4.2 KitKat was designed by Google to be able to support even low-end devices with 512MB of RAM, but in the case of 1GB RAM included within the Galaxy S 3 would have been insufficient for the heavy branding made by Samsung.
Now Samsung has solved this problem by providing a device with 1.5GB of RAM, enough to be able to use last update of Android.
Samsung Galaxy S 3 GT-I9301MBIDBT Neo smartphone is a single SIM GSM with 3G connectivity, HSPA + and download speeds up to 21Mbps.
The device measures 136.6×70.7×8.6mm to 132 grams in weight, has a 4.8 ” Super AMOLED display with resolution HD, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory expandable via microSD up to 64G, connectivity Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, a 8 megapixel rear camera that can shoot video in Full HD, a 1.9 megapixel front camera and is powered by a battery of 2100mAh.
Samsung has also published a Galaxy S3 Neo in India, although the European Galaxy S3 Neo is somewhat different from the Indian variant. The Indian model has dual SIM support and a 1.2 GHz processor.
The new Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo is currently present in the Metallic Blue and White Ceramic colors solely on the German website of Samsung, but it is expected to be made available in other European countries. We do not have availability or price information yet.
