I don’t think it was ever doubted that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active was eventually going to be officially announced, it was merely a matter of when. Well, that time is today. Samsung formally announced its outdoor variant of the Galaxy S4, the S4 Active, and specs in the press release are pretty much bang on what the leaks have said, including a 1.9GHz quad-core CPU, 2,600mAh battery with a 443ppi 5-inch screen.
The S4 Active will be running Android 4.2.2 and has a 8-MP rear camera and 2-MP front facing camera. On top of that, it boasts all sorts of features that will allow you to utilize the S4 Active while being… well, active. A few of these include “Aqua Shot” which allows you to increase picture clarity while underwater, “Glove Touch” which allows you to use your phone‘s screen even while you have gloves on, as well as a whole host of new camera options to add to the S4′s already burgeoning list of features.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active will be available this summer in the U.S. and Sweden first, and is available in Urban Grey (pictured), Dive Blue and Orange Flare. I know I’m looking forward to seeing more of it at Samsung’s London event in 2 weeks.
Would anybody out there take the S4 Active over the normal S4? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
