Problem:So I had dropped my phone on accident after taking a test and it landed on the top part (not the screen nor the back, the top edge where the headphone jack is located) and now whenever I try to go unlock my screen there’s a black screen awaiting me. There are no other external damages on the phone. Now there is a portion of the screen that still lights up and shows my wallpaper (The top portion of my screen about a half inch, and the right side of my screen also about a half inch) but the rest of the screen is black. I tried removing battery and looking at my phone and nothing seems misplaced/broken. It powers up fine but the screen has gone to hell. Note: I do see a crack on the inner screen of my phone on the top right (makes a U/V shape going from the top to the right, about the circular size of half a dime). I also once saw the “”Enter your Pin”” message appear in the middle of my screen (very faded though) but now I don’t get it anymore. Also my phone does have a case that covers my phone along its screen and backside and is held together by a magnet. It should’ve left no damage but that top part that was open screwed me
Solution: It’s very likely that the display of your phone has been damaged by the drop. You should however check first if the phone software is causing this problem by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. If the factory reset fails to resolve the problem then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have your phone checked. You will most likely have to replace your phone display.
S4 Green Screen Issue
Problem: A while ago I used my phone but suddenly the screen started “jumping” its way towards the edges and got all green and ish. I took the battery out and put it in again, still a green screen. It powers up when I start it, it vibrates, make all the sounds, the little notification lamp is blinking. But the screen refuses to work. Tried taking the battery out, pressing the power button for a minute and all of that but it doesn’t work. It has happened a few times that the screen works, but it becomes green after just a couple of seconds. I’ve tried to get into both safe and recovery mode, and i think the phone does it, but i still can’t see the screen. No one else seem to have the same problem as me. Help?
Solution: If your screen is green then the display may already be faulty. You should however check first if the problem is caused by your phone software by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. If the reset fails to resolve the problem then bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked. You may need to replace the display of your phone.
S4 Black Screen With Only Half Screen Showing
Problem: it’s a glitchy type color/ black spread..only half the screen shows and i can’t get into my phone.
Solution: This is obviously a hardware problem already. The display of your phone is broken causing the black color to spread. I suggest bringing your phone to an authorized service center and have your phone display replaced.
S4 Black Screen Flashing Green Issue
Problem: My phone is less than 2 mos old and in great condition- not dropped not wet etc. Today I switched to tmobile and they inserted a new sim card. I never had a problem with the phone then all the sudden this evening the phone was in my bag and I took it out and the screen stopped working. It’s black and if i try it it has flashes of green. That’s all I can say nothing else happened to the phone.
Solution: Try taking out the battery of your phone as well as the microSD card if it has one installed. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This discharges your phone circuit and clears out its RAM. Reinsert the battery then check if the problem still occurs.
If it does then connect your phone (make sure it is turned on) using a USB cord to a computer running on Kies. If it can be detected then backup your phone data.
Once you have finished backing up your phone data then do a factory reset using the hardware keys of your phone.
If the problem still persists after the factory reset then this may already be a hardware related problem. Bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 Horizontal Lines On Screen
Problem: I rebooted the phone cleared everything back to factory settings when you turn on everything is fine then after about 40 seconds the screen flickers and the from the bottom to the top these horizontal lines go up the screen, you can still see all apps under these lines , so I’m hoping it’s something simple . I can send pictures if it helps. Thank you.
Solution: If this problem occurs right after a factory reset even if you haven’t installed any apps yet then this may already be a hardware related problem. You should however check if your phone has any new software updates available. Check this manually and check it using Kies as well. If your phone is already running on the latest software version then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 Screen Flashes Grey
Problem:Phone turns off before battery use percentage is completely down to 0. Sometimes top half of the screen flashes grey. Is it time for a new battery?
Solution: It looks like your phone now needs a new battery. Try getting one and check if the battery life improves. Regarding the screen flashing grey this could be caused by some form of corrupt data. You should try wiping the cache partition of your phone to resolve this issue.
S4 Screen Slow Response
Problem:Screen is slowing down. its on a 2 second delay when i press keys. Also the options for the lock screen have disappeared. I can only lock with a password not a pattern. My phone is coming up for 2yrs old in feb.
Solution: Your phone may have accumulated a lot of cached data which is slowing it down. I suggest you wipe the cache partition of your phone first and see if this speeds up your phone.
If the problem persists then backup your phone data and do a factory reset. This procedure may also help resolve the lock screen problem you are experiencing.
S4 Screen Glowing Green
Problem:Well suddenly i thought the screen was going to blow. It started glowing green with tiny red blue maybe yellow pixel points. Kinda beautiful except i want the phone to work. also if you leave it on long enough, in which in does this multiple times. it rings and beeps and dings and slides. can you help me doc?
Solution: Try checking first if this issue is caused by a certain app installed in your phone. To do this you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. If you do not experience the problem in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If however the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset using the hardware keys.
If at this point the issue still persists then this may already be a hardware related problem. If this is the case you need to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
