Here is a new message sent to us through The Droid Guy Mailbag:
“Lately my phone has been having major problems in my Samsung Galaxy S4. When I plug it in to charge at night and then set my alarm, my phone ends up freezing around 3am and the alarm doesn’t go off and I can’t send/receive texts or emails and it’s response time is over 300% slower. I have no idea why it’s doing this. It’s not overwhelmed with apps, I uninstall whatever I don’t use. It’s running Themer Beta but I don’t think that would kill it overnight. The only explanation I can think of is that I keep it on a window sill at night and maybe the cold is messing with the phone somehow? I live in Michigan and it’s a steady snow storm here with temps well below 0. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks.”
Cold Air Must be Triggering the Galaxy S4 Freezing Problem
If it isn’t a software triggering the S4 freezing issue, then, the cold must be the one to blame. There is a possibility that the cold air is getting into its interior which could be messing up its normal function.
It should be noted that cold air can cause the insides of your phone to accumulate moisture. If left unchecked, it could really trigger a hardware issue characterized by frequent errors or freezing. It could also render your phone inoperable later on.
Although modern Smartphones are equipped with features that can withstand freezing temperature, continuous exposure to harsh environments could still cause damage. So, as a precaution, just keep the phone at an area with ambient temperature.
Themer Beta Might Be the Cause of the S4 Freezing Issue
In the support section of Themer, there has been a reported instance about the app causing a crash last December. A Themer representative advised updating or reinstalling the app to fix it.
One way for you to test if the app is triggering the freezing is by uninstalling it and then restarting your Galaxy S4 after. Observe if the problem still occurs. If it persists, then, Themer may not be the one causing the trouble. But if removing Themer solves the problem, obviously, it could be the one causing the issue.
