EISA (the European Imaging and Sound Association) has announced its awards for 2013 – 2014, and some of them are obviously of interest to us.
Samsung has won three awards with its Android devices. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini won the European Social Media 2013 – 2014 distinction, because it’s “a well-built, fully equipped, affordable smartphone” that comes with numerous “social applications on board from the get-go, including Group Play, ChatON, and S Health.”
As for the larger Galaxy S4, this has been declared the European Green Phone of 2013 – 2014. With “limited use of precious metals and toxic materials”, Samsung is showing that “it’s possible to produce a large-screen smartphone with minimal environmental burden.”
Samsung also got an award for its Android Jelly Bean-based Galaxy NX camera, which has been named European Photo Innovation of 2013 – 2014.
HTC’s One (already praised by almost all reviewers) is EISA’s European Advanced Smartphone – thanks to its “robust aluminum body”, 4.7 inch Full HD Super LCD screen, quad-core processor, front stereo speakers, and so on.
Huawei’s ultra-slim Ascend P6 has won the European Consumer Smartphone 2013 – 2014 title, because “it’s a surprisingly well-equipped smartphone at a very attractive price.”
Sony has snagged an award, too, but not for a smartphone. The company’s Xperia Z Tablet is the European Tablet of 2013 – 2014, thanks to its super-slim, waterproof design, and the high-end specs (including a 10.1 inch Full HD display, quad-core Snapdragon processor, and 2GB of RAM).
