Problem:The latest android update was done about September 9th. That is when my music streaming issues started. Pandora stopped working unless it was on wifi. If I attempt to use it with the mobile data 4g, the app will load but songs will never load and play. As soon as I step into wifi the music will start. I have removed Pandora and cleared the Cache, uninstalled and re-installed multiple times. Pandora customer service offered me all of that advice and I followed it. So I decided to try spotify and it has the exact same issue. This leads me to believe it is the phone. I have checked to see that mobile data is enable and that there is no battery saving mode on. Every other app works and plays including youtube and radio scanners which work on a similar platform I believe. Please help, I am so frustrate and I find others online as well but no answers for this specific issue.
Solution: Does this issue occur in one particular location or does this occur in any location you are at? If it occurs in only one particular location then this may be a network related problem.
If the issue occurs wherever you are then this may be caused by the software update. Sometimes the data of the old software version is not completely removed from your phone during the update process. This data is now causing a conflict with the new software version which results in this issue.
The best way to resolve this problem is to first try to wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If the problem still persists then you should backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
S4 Back And Menu Button Not Working After Software Update
Problem: I have samsung galaxy s4 gt-i9506 (lollipop 5.0.1). A week before i received update notification So i did via OTA.But as the update download completed and phone got restart The MENU and BACK BUTTON stop working. I did everything to restore my buttons. I restart, reset it, wipe cache and even i downgrade my mobile firmware to kitkat via Odin but my problem still persist. Samsung is calm about the issue. 100% this issue started after receiving the update. I think samsung have make some big mistake in that that. Please solve my issue if possible. Regards
Related Problem:After update to Lollipop, Back and Menu soft keys do not work.
Solution: Several other phone owners are also having this same issue after updating their phone software. Before the update the back and menu button works perfectly but after the update it doesn’t work anymore. To resolve this issue follow the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below.
The first thing to do is to take out the phone battery and microSD card. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute to discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone. Check if the problem still occurs.
If the problem still occurs then you need to start your phone in recovery mode. From here you should wipe the cache partition of your phone first. Follow this up by doing a factory if the problem persists. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the factory reset.
If after the factory reset the issue still occurs the check if your phone has an ActiveSync / Exchange account setup. If an account is present then the security policy of the account could be causing this problem. Try deleting this account from your phone then check if the back and menu keys now work.
If the problem persists then have the previous software of your phone flashed back to it at the nearest Samsung store.
S4 Dialing Fails Open Random Apps After Software Update
Problem: Since the most recent two updates : a) when dialing will fail the first dial attempt almost every time. b) when swiping out of lock, will open on some random window… like the telephone keypad or calculator.
Solution: There’s a possibility that these issues could be caused by some form of corrupt data. Try to start your phone in recovery mode first then wipe its cache partition. Reboot your phone then check if the problem still occurs.
If it does then you need to proceed with checking if an app installed in your phone is causing the problem. To do this start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Check if the problem occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then it may be caused by data from the old software version that has not been completely removed from your phone. This old data is causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in the issue the phone is having. To resolve this problem you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S4 Getting Random Notifications After Software Update
Problem:The morning of Friday December 11th AT&T forced an update on my Samsung s4. I believe I had 5.01 prior to update, which is version currently listed. Since that time I keep getting random notification sounds but I can’t see what I’m being notified about. It happened at all hours and usually about 40-70 minutes apart. If you can help, please let me know. I’ll try try battery soft reset.
Solution: If you can’t seem to check what the notification is all about then try to check first if a third party app running in the background is causing this issue. To do this you will need to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Observe your phone while in this mode for a couple of hours. If the problem does not occur in this mode then there’s a possibility that it could be caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is then you can either check its settings, update it, or uninstall it.
If the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then this may be caused by a glitch in the phone software. Try to start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. If this doesn’t resolve the problem then backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
S4 Not Installing App After Marshmallow Update
Problem:Hi, recently I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S4 with Android marshmallow 6.0 The installation is ok (I guess). I followed all the steps to root properly the phone but now when I install a game app, from the play store or from the Web, I can’t play them. The phone stays with the black screen for a while and then it shows the error that the app has stopped working. Any solution for this? I would appreciate it.
Solution: This problem could be caused by the Marshmallow software you installed in your phone. Since there is still no official Marshmallow update available for the S4 then it’s possible that the version that you have installed is still buggy or in its experimental stage and is not recommended for daily use. I suggest you revert back to the original software of your device to resolve this issue.
S4 White Screen When Closing Apps After Software Update
Problem: I recently received update of 363mb. I found new Smart App Manager app installed by this update. But real problem is that when try to clear recent apps by long pressing home button and then X on lower right side of the screen, it closed the apps but does not return to home screen. Instead it shows white screen with top bar in orange color.
Solution: There’s a possibility that this problem could be caused by some form of corrupt data in your phone. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first from the recovery mode then check if the problem still occurs.
If you are still experiencing the same issue then this could be caused by the old software data that has not been completely removed during the software update. To resolve this matter you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
