Problem: I bought a samsung galaxy S4 not that long ago it’s from verizon. my phone company is metro pcs. the phone is unlocked, everything works fine but the text messages. i receive them but everytime i want to reply and send back a message instantly it says “failed” . i went to metro pcs yesterday the lady tried to look at the settings and download other messaging apps too see if that worked but no solution. she even restarted the phone. and still no solution to it. i would like to know if you guys could help me with this problem.
Solution: One very likely reason why this issue is happening is that your phone is still using the Verizon message center number. You need the correct message center number used by MetroPCS to be able to send out text messages since this is the number your messages are sent to before being forwarded to the intended recipient. Have the representative from MetroPCS check on this number and have it updated if necessary.
S4 No Text Reports
Problem:I have a galaxy s4 active that I was about to activate, I got used. that was seller refurbished. I was looking through the text portion, I noticed that it does not offer text reports.
Iike to know when a text was sent to me and then when I actually get it. (for when the phone is off when the text is actually sent).I know this may sound kinda dumb. But sometimes I need to know when a text was actually sent to me and when I actually got it. I have tried doing a hard reset that did not help. thanks
Solution: Make sure that you are accessing the correct setting for the delivery reports.
From the Home screen touch Apps
Tap the options menu
Tap Text Messages
Check the box next to Delivery Reports
If you can’t find the setting for delivery reports then make sure that your phone is running on stock software since if it is running on a custom ROM this feature may not be available.
Since you use the AT&T network what happens when the delivery reports is activated is that it allows the sender to see that the text message has indeed been delivered to the sender. It does not inform the sender if the message has been opened or read.
The issue you are having is that when your phone is turned off you would like to know the exact time that the message was sent. Unfortunately this problem may either be caused by your phone software or your carrier. Try to check if there are any new software updates available for your phone that may fix this bug. If your phone is running on the latest update already then you may have to wait for the next update or you can contact your carrier regarding this matter.
S4 Needs To Restart To Send Text Message
Problem:Everytime I send a text I had to restart my phone to send it, and after I restart my phone I receive all my missing texts other people sent me. All this started after I deleted all the “”O Apps” which was causing delays in my internet browsing. Also this is an unlocked phone so please tell me what I can possibly do to fix the issue because I’m afraid if I do a Hard reset it will lock the phone, also it’s a CDMA and my network is Page Plus. Thanks
Solution: If doing a hard reset is not an option then you can perform two troubleshooting steps. First, you can wipe the cache partition of your phone. This only deletes the temporary data in your device so you don’t have to worry about your phone settings or personal data. If your phone has a corrupt temporary data then it may be the reason why you have this issue.
The next thing that you can do is to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. This makes it easier to check if a third party app is causing the problem. Try to send a text message in this mode. If you can send a text message without any issues then the problem may be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
S4 Not Receiving Text Message From One Person
Problem: I have no problems sending texts but from time to time there will be one person that I will not be able to receive a text from. My friend was sending and receiving texts from me and I suddenly could no longer receive his texts. He traded phones twice and the last phone he bought was an S6, but no luck. He receives my texts and he can text everybody else but cannot get his texts through to me.
Solution: Does the text message he sends you appear sent on his device or does it appear as failed to send? This is important since if it appears as sent then the issue might be with the carrier or with your phone. If it appears as failed to send then the issue is with your friend’s device.
Let’s work on the first assumption that the message was indeed sent. If this is the case then you should be able to receive the message.
Although it is improbable try to check if your friend’s number is included in the spam number list. If it is then you will not be able to read any of the sent messages coming from this number.
You should also try to start a new message thread with your friend by deleting the old one and creating a new one.
To check if this issue is caused by a problem with the messaging app try to clear the cache and data of the app. I suggest you also follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone.
Sometimes. a third party app installed in your phone can also cause this type of issue. If this is the case I suggest you start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are given permission to run while the apps that you downloaded and installed in your device are disabled. Check if you can receive text messages from your friend in this mode. If you can then the problem may be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
One final resort that you can do if the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem is to do a factory reset. Make sure that you backup your phone data before performing this procedure.
S4 Not Receiving Text Message From One Number
Problem: My son can receive text message from me but I cannot receive his reply or a message he sends me. He sends but I do not receive it. I have AT&T and he has Verizon. I have a Galaxy S4 and he has a Galaxy S5. I can receive texts from others with US Cellular service and AT&T service but not him. I am able to receive texts from businesses such as Target. Can you assist me with this particular problem or refer me to a past article by number to try to fix this problem. Thank you.
Solution: This problem is similar to the one we addressed above. You can follow the same troubleshooting steps that we discussed with that problem.
One slight difference in this case is that you mentioned that you belong to different networks. As an added troubleshooting step both of you should contact your respective networks and inform them of the issue since the problem may be network related.
S4 Delay In Sending Or Receiving Text Messages
Problem:when texting it takes at least 3 hours to send or receive messages. occasionally message will fail to send. this is also the same with snapchat. this will happen when I’m outside on 3G and at home using home Wi-Fi. android version is 4.4.2.
Solution: One reason why there is a delay in sending or receiving a text message is if the network signal is weak. Check on your phone signal and if you are getting just a few bars then try to go to an area where the signal strength is at its maximum then check if the delay still occurs.
If the issue remains then I suggest you try to wipe the cache partition of your phone to clear out the temporary data of your device. This temporary data may be causing the problem.
One last resort that you should consider is a factory reset. Make sure to do this only after you have backed up your phone data.
