If you are looking for a phone with a good quality full HD display then the #Samsung Galaxy #S4 should be one of the models to consider. Although it’s an old model , having been released last 2013, it can still compete with most of the mid-range smartphone models that have been recently released. One of the selling points of this phone is its use of a 5 inch Super AMOLED display that produces brilliant colors while consuming very little power.
Despite its use of a highly rated display this phone still suffers from screen related issues. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S4 screen stopped working issue & other related problems that our readers are facing.

Problem: I haven’t got my galaxy s4 mini wet or dropped it, but one evening the screen stopped working. Sometimes the screen won’t come on at all and sometimes it will work with no problems. Sometimes the screen will freeze when I’m using it and go stripy and sometimes orange as well. This morning it was working ok, but then when I turned the screen on, the screen went orange and flickered. And now the screen won’t work at all. I can feel that the phone is still responsive but the screen is just black. I’ve tried rebooting it numerous times and taking the battery out, with little success. Please help.
Solution: This appears to be a hardware related issue already. Try pressing gently on the sides or center of the screen and check the results. If the display returns then this could be caused by a loose connection.
If the screen still won’t work then take out the phone battery and the microSD card. What you will want to do is to discharge the phone circuit and clear the RAM of the phone. To do this just press on the power button for at least a minute. Reinsert the battery then see if you can turn on your phone.
Once your phone turns on immediately backup its contents then do a factory reset. This needs to be done to eliminate any software related problems that may be causing this issue.
If after the factory reset the issue still persists or if your phone does not display anything at all then I suggest you bring your device to an authorized service center and have it checked. There’s a possibility that the display of your phone will have to be replaced.
S4 Screen Went Off
Problem:when I put the battery into the phone after taking it off to do the soft reset,it vibrates like it does when its turning on,then the light that shows the phone is on comes but the screen is still blank(black) nothing comes on. That’s how the problem came. The screen just went off.
Solution: Try to determine first if this is a power related issue. Take out the phone battery and the microSD card if one is installed then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge your phone circuit and clear out the RAM. Reinsert the battery but do not turn on your phone yet. Instead, check the phone charging port for any signs of dirt or debris. If necessary, clean the charging port with a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Once this is done charge your phone with a wall charger that is known to work for at least 20 minutes then turn on your phone.
Once you turn on your phone two things may happen. It’s either the phone will not respond at all or the display will not turn on but the notification lights in your phone will light up.
If your phone will not respond at all then the using a new battery and see what happens. If your phone still doesn’t work then have it checked at an authorized service center.
If it’s only the display that does not work then you may need to replace the display assembly of your phone. I suggest you have your phone checked first at an authorized service center.
S4 Turns Off
Problem:The phone wont do anything unless plugged in. When its plugged in the battery pops up on screen and then hesitates for second before it goes back off. A few seconds later it does it again. In a loop.
Solution: This issue could be caused by a weak or defective battery. Try replacing your phone battery with a new one first and see if the problem still occurs. Charge the phone with the new battery installed for at least 20 minutes before turning it on.
If your phone still turns off then try connecting it using a USB cord to a computer with Kies or Smart Switch running. Check if the software can detect your phone. You may need to press on the power button while your phone is connected to the computer to turn it on. If your phone is not detected then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 No Display How to Retrieve Data

Solution: To retrieve the data in your phone whose display does not work you will need to have the display repaired first. This is because you will need the display to bypass the security measures of your device so that so that your personal data can be accessed. Just bring your phone to an authorized service center and have the display replaced. Once the display is working you will be able to get your data.
S4 Black Screen But Phone Still Working
Problem:Hi, I left my phone for charging last night and I just could see some starry screen at first, then black l can hear my alarm go messages coming etc., just can’t see my screen. I had a crack in the screen recently too. Please help!
Related Problem:I have a Galaxy S4 and it’s sustained a number of falls. A couple of days ago, it fell again and the black screen appeared and its been there ever since. I still receive calls and texts and can use the screen, but I can’t see what I’m doing, of course. Is this fixable? Any input would help. Thanks
Related Problem:My phone is on and I can see my notifications blinking but my screen won’t turn on. I don’t know what’s going on.
Solution: The most likely reason why this is happening is that the phone display may already be defective or its connection to the phone motherboard is loose. Try to check first if you can start your phone in recovery mode. If you can access recovery mode then try wiping the cache partition of your phone or do a factory reset. Take note that the factory reset will delete the data stored in your phone so make sure to have a backup of your phone data.If you can’t then you will need to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have the display replaced.
