The presence of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is not news to us. The smartphone has been making appearances in the rumor mill almost every day now with leaks sharing one aspect or the other along the way. A revelation from earlier today is doing the same by suggesting that the AT&T variant of the smartphone will come in several color variants.
Evleaks makes it specifically clear however that the smartphone won’t remain an exclusive to AT&T like last year’s Galaxy S4 Active was, although the unique colors will only be available from the carrier. The smartphone is said to be bearing the model number SM-G870A while the Sprint model of the Galaxy S5 Active/Sport will be reportedly known as the SM-G860P.
Over the weeks, we have been wondering as to how different the Galaxy S5 Active would be in comparison to the Galaxy S5. This is particularly interesting as the Galaxy S4 Active was known for its ruggedness and water resistance, so how exactly could Samsung make the Galaxy S5 Active more rugged and water resistant than the Galaxy S5? The addition of hardware buttons on the front (in addition to the solitary home button) might be a neat option. We hope Samsung puts an end to these rumors and makes the device official soon.
