After several leaks and rumours, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active finally goes official, and it has everything that the original Galaxy S5 offered and more. However, Samsung has decided to take out the fingerprint scanner which wasn’t really innovative to start with. Considering that the original Galaxy S5 came with water and dust proofing, questions were raised concerning the types of protection that will accompany the Galaxy S5 Active, now that it has gone official. We finally have all the official details.
Apart from the water and dust protection, the Galaxy S5 Active will feature protection against shocks as well, thanks to the IP67 certification as well as the MIL-spec 810G, it’s pretty safe to say that the Galaxy S5 Active will appeal to all those who are always on the look for new and grave adventures.
The best thing about the Galaxy S5 Active is that unlike the Galaxy S4 Active, you’ll get pretty much everything same as the original Galaxy S5, like previously mentioned, only the fingerprint scanner is missing. The Galaxy S5 Active will be coming with a quad core Snapdragon 801, 2 gigs of RAM, 16 mega pixel rear camera and 2 mega pixel front camera. The phone will be running on Android 4.4.2 customised using Samsung’s own TouchWiz, there will be a 2,800 mAh battery under the hood.
So what’s new apart from a completely rugged chassis? Samsung has added a new button the Galaxy S5 Active that is called ‘Activity Zone’, this button alone will be enough to handle all the outdoor activities you’re planning on doing.
As for the pricing, the Galaxy S5 Active costs $200 from AT&T on two year contract, if you’re looking to buy the phone without contract, the phone will then cost you $715. The Galaxy S5 Active is available in three colours, Ruby Red, Titanium Grey, and Camo Green.
