Problem:So my camera on my galaxy s5 seems to not be able to lock its focus. When I tap the screen to focus the focus icon appears and doesn’t lock its focus, it doesn’t even make any beeping or even turn green to show that it’s focused. The picture itself would be focused at times but not all the time. I’ve tried to factory reset it, and clear the data and cache on the camera but it hasn’t fixed it. Please help me.
Solution: Since you already did the troubleshooting on the software side it’s time to check the hardware of your phone. Try to check the camera lens and see if it is clear of any smudges or dirt. If you spot any foreign matter on the lens then clean it using a microfiber cloth or lens paper. Try to avoid using ordinary cloth when cleaning your camera lens as it may get scratched.
Sometimes, the plastic film covering the lens may still be attached. This is usually the case if your phone is new. Check if this film is still present, if it is then remove it.
If the problem still persists then this could already be a problem with the camera module of your phone. I suggest you bring your device to an authorized service center for checking.
S5 Unresponsive When Using Camera
Problem:When I go to take a photo with my main camera (i haven’t checked my front camera) my phone screen goes black and unresponsive – no haptic feedback when i press and hold the power button – the only way i can get it to work again is by removing the phone battery and replacing. This doesn’t happen every time but it is happening more and more often. I have tried to backup my phone to my samsung account (to do a factory reset) and the backup is failing. I am unable to backup my my photos as my dropbox is full, i tried syncing them with my google account and it has said it’s successful but the pi turns are not to be found on my google account either. HELPPP!!!
Solution: Try using Kies or Smart Switch to backup your phone data. You can download this software from the Samsung website and install it in your computer. To backup your data you just need to connect your phone using a USB cord to your computer.
Once your phone data is backed up I highly recommend that you perform a factory reset on your phone as it appears that this problem could be caused by a glitch in your phone software since it happens intermittently.
S5 Camera Not Focusing
Problem:From a few minutes ago my camera is not focusing. I have cleared cache and cleared some apps, but it is still not focusing
Solution: Try to check if the camera lens is clear of any dirt or oily substance. If necessary clean the lens with a microfiber cloth or lens paper. Don’t use any ordinary cloth like your shirt for instance since this may scratch the camera lens.
Consider wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Sometimes corrupt temporary data in your phone will cause this type of issue.
If all else fails I suggest you do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data first before performing this procedure.
S5 Camera MediaServer Failed Error
Problem:The rear camera freezes. When the front camera is being opened, it delays for a while then gives the following error message. MediaServer failed. Camera needs restart
Solution: This problem is usually caused by some form of corrupt data in your phone. Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it has then try taking this out first and check if the problem still occurs.
If it does then I suggest you clear the cache and data of your phone camera app. You should also follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone.
If the issue still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
