A new report has revealed Samsung’s plans to launch the Galaxy S5 Mini in mid-July. According to a tipster quoted by Sam Mobile, the smartphone will pack a fingerprint scanner and the heart-rate monitor, much like the company’s flagship offering. This makes sense given that the smartphone will be largely perceived as a smaller Galaxy S5.
The internal hardware will be slightly toned down, however. The report believes the device will pack a 4.5 inch display, a 1.4 GHz quad core Exynos chipset, 1.5GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera on the back, LTE connectivity and Android 4.4 with all the latest software features we saw on the Galaxy S5 including Ultra Power Saving and Kids Mode.
Samsung seems to have learned from its past experiences as its mini devices over the past couple of years have been nothing to write home about. But with the company launching something like the Galaxy S5 Mini featuring this hardware set, we might see the trend for mini smartphones take off in a big way these coming months.
