For consumers looking for a new smartphone to buy, one of the main things that they want in a phone is the ability to expand its storage space. This is where Android devices have the advantage as it is easy to add more space simply by adding a microSD card. The #Samsung #Galaxy #S5 for example is able to accommodate a microSd card of up to 128GB. Sometimes though issues can occur because of this card. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S5 mount SD card error issue & other related problems.
If you own a Samsung Galaxy S5 or any other Android device for that matter then feel free to contact us using this form. Problem:When I insert my 16 gig memory card all seems normal i have had the s2 through to s5 so have done this many times only problem is when I check it’s says mount sd card the memory card works in my s4 any ideas would be really appreciated Thanks
Related Problem:When you check on memory on sd card it shows ” mount sd card”, you tap on it and nothing happens.
Solution: For this type of issue try to check first if the problem is caused by some form of corrupt temporary data in the phone. You can do this by starting the phone in recovery mode then wiping the cache partition of the device. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
One other factor that can cause this problem is a third party app installed in the phone. To check if this is the case you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Check if the error still occurs. If it doesn’t then you need to find out what app is causing this and uninstall it.
A corrupt phone software can also cause this type of problem. If this is the case you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If after the reset the problem still occurs then try inserting a different microSD card to the phone. If this fails then you should have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
S5 microSD Card Data Missing
Problem: I woke the other morning and checked my phone. My lock screen photo was gone and my SD card was blank. I lost all my music and a lot of pics. I’m glad I had my pics backed up. I took out my SD card put it in my tablet and it said damaged SD card.
Solution: It’s not uncommon for a microSD card to become corrupt all of a sudden. The problem when the card becomes faulty is that you don’t know when it is going to happen so it’s always best to regularly backup your data.
You can however try to recover the data in the card by inserting it to your computer and using a data recovery software ( such as Recuva) to try to get back the data in the card. While this isn’t going to work all of the time it’s best to try it out.
S5 Low Internal Memory Error
Problem: Nothing is stored in my phones internal memory but a notification about low internal memory is shown. I cannot install applications or receive any files in my phone since it says memory is full…i have done a factory reset and nothing still changes the memory is still low….the camera is also not what it is supposed to be….16 megapixels but photos taken are of the lowest quality….this is just so disappointing please help me.
Solution: If the problem still occurs even right after a factory reset then the phone software could be corrupt. Try flashing your phone software with its stock firmware then check if the issue still occurs. Instructions on how to flash your device can be found at several of the popular android forums online.
If you are still experiencing the same issue even after flashing your phone then this could already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Does Not Read All Files In microSD Card
Problem:Bought a brand new 128GB Samsung micro SD card. Inserted the card in my PC and loaded 40GB of music onto it. Removed card from the PC and mounted it in the phone. it checks for errors and finds none. But it only finds 8GB of files on the card. Tried reformatting the card and recopying the files onto it but same response. Any clues what I’m doing wrong here?
Solution: The phone should be able to detect the 40GB worth of music files that you copied to the microSD card. Are the files all in mp3 format or are there other formats (such as FLAC)? If there are other formats involved then your device may not have the correct app installed to read them. Anyway, here’s what you should try. Format the microSD card again using your phone. Once this is done connect your phone to your computer using a USB cord. Copy the music files from your computer to the phone’s’ microSD using the file explorer or by using Kies or Smart Switch.
S5 Photos Copied To microSD Card Can’t Be Opened
Problem:I tried moving precious photos from my device to an sd card. then i checked sd card and the filename is there but no photos all i have a black squares with a head and shoulders silhouette in grey..these photos were all i had of some dear friends that are no longer with us and baby photos of my children..can you please help me get them back?
Solution: It’s very likely that the microSD has developed some corrupt sectors which is causing this issue. You could try using a data recovery software to get back the photos. To do this you should have your computer read the microSD card ( you will need a card reader for this). Once the card is connected you should then use a software ( such as Recuva) to attempt to recover the data in the card. This doesn’t work all of the time but it’s worth a shot.
S5 Gallery Not Detecting Photos Moved From Internal Memory To microSD Card
Problem:Hello! For space utilization, I have pics, video and audio recordings saved on my sandisk 128G microSD drive. Pics on internal memory do show in my gallery and in their appropriate folders. However, when moved from internal memory over to the SD card, my gallery no longer sees any of the pics nor are the pics on the SD drive in their respective folders. Can you plzzzzz assist in being able to see my pics stored on SD drive in appropriate folders within my gallery?
Solution:For this issue try refreshing the gallery app by clearing its cache and data from the application manager. Once this is done check if the pictures can now be seen.
