Problem:Phone won’t charge while switched on but if turned off it connects to charge vibrates and shows battery sign then goes straight back off and comes back on again and keeps repeating, left over night it will charge like that but scared it’s going to damage my phone I’ve used numerous charges and all do the same.
Solution: Try to check first if this problem is caused by a faulty USB cord by using a new one. You should also try using a different wall charger if the problem persists.
Check the charging port of your phone for any signs of dirt or debris. This usually interferes with the charging process. If necessary, clean the charging port using a can of compressed air or a cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
To eliminate the possibility that a glitch in the phone software is causing this problem you should also backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the problem still persists at this point then this may already be hardware related, Bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Does Not Charge Does Not Turn On
Problem:my phone wont turn on, it wont charge it wont do anything. it’s not the battery but the system itself. i can’t access the recovery or anything. it’s completely bricked. any ideas how to fix it?
Solution: Try taking out the battery and microSD card ( if you have one attached) of your phone. Next, press and hold the power button for at least a minute to drain the phone circuit of any charge and clear out its RAM. Reinsert the battery but leave the microSD out. Connect your phone to a wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes. With the phone still connected to the charger turn it on.
If possible you should also try using a new battery on your phone.
If you still can’t turn on your phone then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Slow Charging
Problem: It wont charge properly. I will turn it off. And it will charge. But it takes like 24 hours but the little light that shows its charging wont turn on. Then when I turn it on it wont charge at all. And the battery dies very quickly.
Solution: Try using another USB cord when charging your phone since this cord gets easily damaged especially if it is coiled or bent constantly.
You should also make sure that the charging port of your phone is free of any dirt or debris as this usually interferes with the charging process. If necessary you should clean the charging port using a can of compressed air or a cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
Sometimes, corrupt data within the phone can also cause this type of problem. To check if this is the case you should wipe the cache partition of your phone. If the issue still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
Once the factory reset has completed try to charge your phone. If it still charges slowly then try to replace your phone battery as this may already be defective.
If after following all of the troubleshooting steps listed above the problem still persists then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Does Not Charge
Problem:Hi team, I have had the Galaxy S5 for just over a year now and absolutely love it. About 3 or 4 months ago I had to buy a new charger (after a year or so of use and abuse it was started to rip and I felt it was a safety concern) I did buy a brand new, oem Samsung Galaxy S5 charger on Amazon.com and it was working just fine. About 2 weeks ago I decided to upgrade my phones protection and I got the otterbox defender series case/belt clip (because let’s face it, phones are not as rugged as they once were). At around the same time I noticed that my phone started to give me issues with charging, seldom at first but it gradually got to the point where I can NOT charge my phone. What do you think my problem is? The new wire? The otterbox? Or is it an unrelated problem with the phone?
Solution: I doubt the Otterbox case would have any effect on the charging of your phone unless it prevents the USB cord from connecting properly to your phone charger. You should first try to replace the USB cord that your charger is using as this gets damaged easily. Try charging the phone with and without the Otterbox case. If the problem still persists then try using a different wall charger or if none is available as of the moment try to charge your phone using the USB port of your computer.
If the problem persists then proceed with inspecting the charging port of your phone for any signs of dirt or debris. This may interfere with the charging process. If necessary, clean the charging port using a can of compressed air or a cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
There are also instances when a glitch in the phone software can cause this problem. If this is the case you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the factory reset try to charge your phone.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Not Charging Battery

Solution: Try using a new USB cord when charging your phone as this usually gets damaged easily. You should also try using a new wall charger or if none is available at the moment try to charge your phone using the new USB cord on your computer’s USB port.
You should also check your phone’s charging port for any signs of damage, dirt, or debris. If necessary, clean the charging port using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
If this problem is caused by a glitch in the phone software then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the problem still persists then this may already be hardware related. You should bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking.
