Problem:Hello my Samsung Galaxy S5 GM-900W8 is not turning on and not charging. I believe it is a hardware and/or software issue. There are no indications of the phone being charged (I.e. red LED), EXCEPT the battery icon popped up once since I have plugged it in (about 2 hours now since) after trying everything. The phone is rooted as well things I have tried in no particular order:
-Tried to clean the charging port with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol
-took battery out and put back in
-used an official Samsung charger
-tried holding down the power button
-tried holding the power, vol. Up/ vol down, and the home button simultaneously and no android icon showed up on the screen
Lead up to the scene: Battery died so I get in my car and plug it in, It starts vibrating every second until I hold down the power button. A battery icon pops up with a yellow-orange triangle inside of it. The triangle might of had an exclamation mark on it. I cannot remember if the phone turned on it’s own or I pressed the power button again to turn it on. When my home screen came on, there was 2% battery, there was indication that the battery was charging on screen and by the red LED. I had to make a phone call right away, but it went to voicemail. I made another call, also went to voicemail, then I noticed battery at 1%. The phone completely drained while plugged into the car charger (never happened before). The battery icon with lightning bolt came on but no red light. And then again when mentioned above. So twice actually. Please help me on this conquest of resurrection as I have ran out of ideas. It would be a miracle and a great deed. Thank you
Solution: There’s a possibility that the phone battery may already be defective. Try getting a new battery then check if your phone works with it.
If the problem still persists then more advanced troubleshooting steps needs to be done since you already did the basic troubleshooting steps. It’s possible that the charging port could be damaged which would then prevent the battery from being charged. It’s also possible that the power IC of the phone is defective. Either way you need to bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking and repair.
S5 Is Not Charging
Problem:Hey, my phone is not charging after it discharged. i tried to charge it with different usb cables but still nothing happening, and before that on the screen was android icon with text – downloading, do not switch the phone but after 5 mins it gone and nothing happening, died. thank you
Solution: It’s good that you tried using a different USB cable since this usually gets damaged easily. Unfortunately in this case the problem still persists. What you need to do next is to try using a different wall charger just in case the wall charger you are using right now is defective.
You should also check the charging port of your phone for any signs of dirt or debris. If necessary, you should clean this port with a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
Another factor that could cause this issue is a faulty battery. If this is the case you should try to get a new battery.
A glitch in the phone software can also cause this type of problem. If this is the case then you need to start your phone in recovery mode. Proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone in this mode then restart the phone. If the problem persists then start your phone in recovery mode again and do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete all the data stored in your phone so only consider this option if you are willing to lose your phone data.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked as this may already be a hardware related problem.
S5 Stops Charging With The Slightest Touch
Problem:My phone is very finicky while charging it like it works one spot but the slightest touch makes it stop
Solution: There’s a big possibility that this problem is caused by a defective charging cord. This cord is gets easily damaged especially if it is constantly coiled or bent. Try to replace this cord and see if this fixes the problem.
If the problem still occurs then try to check if the phone charging port has any presence of dirt or debris. Clean the port if necessary using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
You should also have this charging port checked at an authorized service center.
S5 Not Charging
Problem:My phone died completely and i’ve tried using regular android chargers and all said where to be non compatible but i still kept trying till my phone completely died . I’ve bought a new charger for the s5 and still wont charge . Help please
Solution: Since you already tried using different chargers to no avail you should proceed with checking the phone’s charging port. The presence of dirt or debris in this port will interfere with the charging process and can cause this type of problem. If necessary you should clean the charging port with a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
Moving up the ladder the next thing to consider that can cause this problem is the phone battery. Try to get a new battery and see if this fixes the problem.
If you can turn on your phone using the new battery but it still does not charge then try to check first if this is a software related problem by doing a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before performing this procedure.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Won’t Charge
Problem:My phone won’t charge at all. I’ve tried charging it in multiple outlets with multiple different charging cords, but nothing works. Recently my phone has had many popup advertisement notifications, some saying “hot battery problem?” Or “you’re lonely?” These popup at least 10 times a day. I haven’t downloaded any apps recently
Solution: You will need to deal with the pop-up issues that your phone is having as this could be related to the charging problem. The quickest way to deal with this is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Once the reset is complete check if you can charge your phone. If your phone still does not charge then try using a different wall charger. You should also check the charging port of your phone if there is any dirt or debris present. Clean the port if necessary using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
A defective battery can also cause your phone not to charge. To check if this is the case you need to get a new battery.
S5 Yellow Triangle With Exclamation Appears When Charging
Problem: when i charge my phone it shows the battery with the lighting bolt for a few seconds then batter with a yellow triangle and exclamation in the middle. not water damaged. nothing is wrong with the cord have two cords and they both come up with the same problem…. what could it be ???
Solution: This could either mean that your phone has a bad battery or a glitch in the phone software is causing this error to occur. What you need to do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the issue still occurs after the reset then get a new battery for your phone.
