Problem: Hello, my battery life has been terrible since the lollipop update on my S5. In the battery usage setting, Android system is usually using up about 40% of the battery. I have done a factory reset, I clear the cache almost daily in an attempt to fix it, and I have uninstalled many apps. Please help, it used to last almost 2 days, now I have to charge it twice a day.
Solution: In most cases such as this a factory reset would have solved the issue. This is because it deletes any old software data that may still be in your phone causing this issue. Since you already performed this procedure to no avail then there must be another factor involved.
Try updating your phone apps. If you are running an older version of an app that’s designed for KitKat then it may cause this battery drain issue in Lollipop. Just go to the Google Play Store then head over to the My Apps section to update your apps.
One other factor that you should consider is that the battery of your phone may already be faulty. I suggest you try using a new battery on your phone and see if the issue still remains.
S5 Lag & Battery Drain Issue After Lollipop Update
Problem:Hi, i just got the new update 5.1.1 and to be honest i’m not happy, not at all, I tried everything to keep my phone running like before but it looks like this is impossible.I did the reset factory, turn off the phone press home, volume up and home keys and then cleaned the cache partition. And still my phone is working like crazy !
Keyboard typping slow
Battery drains like hell
Touch Screen too sensitive
And the worse of all, I DON’T LIKE IT ! I CAN’T LIVE WITH THIS UPDATE UNDER ANY CIRCUNSTANCIES, I want to get and image factoy from the previous version 4.4 If that is not possible then I would like to get the money back, what I paid for this phone and I send you the cell phone, you can keep it. I don’t want it anymore… So now you know, I DON’T WANT LOLLIPOP IN MY PHONE. Everything was amazing about this Android Galaxy, I used to love it ! Now I want to destoy it !!! Im crying from angerrrr …. So please help me out. Thanks a lot for everything, have a good day.
Solution: Since these problems occurred right after the software update then let’s first determine if the problem is caused by some conflicts in the new software. Backup your phone data first. If you have a microSD card installed in your phone then I suggest you remove it. Do the following in order. Wipe the cache partition of your phone then do a factory reset after.
Once the factory reset has completed do not install any apps yet or insert the microSD card. Check and see if you are still having any lag or battery drain issues. Update your pre-installed phone apps then check if the issues still occur.
If the problem still persists then you should consider reflashing the previous software version to your device. You will need a copy of the firmware version and a program called Odin installed in your computer to do this. Take note that this isn’t a Samsung supported procedure and you will void your phone warranty. If you wish to perform this procedure then I suggest you check out the popular Android forums online for the specific details on how to flash your phone.
S5 Text Message App Freezes After Lollipop Update
Problem:So I’ve had my phone for about 4 months. Before I updated to lollipop I was having some issues with texting and it’s doing about the same thing it was before. I just thought I needed to update again but it says my phone is up to date. My messages won’t send unless I stay on the messages app until it sends, and when I type it tends to freeze and I’ll have to wait for it to catch up before I can keep typing. I’ve rebooted several times, and constantly checking for updates. I’m just not sure what else to do. Thank you for any help!
Solution: It looks like some form of corrupt data in your messaging app is causing this issue. Try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app and see if this does the trick. If the issue persists then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.
If both steps fail to resolve the problem then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Contacts Need To Be Swiped Repeatedly After Lollipop Update
Problem:I have to swipe several times a contact for the call to go through. this started to happen after I updated to Lollipop. Before which it used to work just fine. After swiping the contact name the phone shows dialing and disconnects immediately. Have to swipe at least 5 times for a call to go through. I would be really grateful if you help me solve the issue. Thanks!
Solution: Check if clearing the cache and data of the contacts app fixes the problem. If it doesn’t then I suggest wiping the cache partition next. If the problem still persists then backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
S5 No Mobile Network After Lollipop Update
Problem:I am currently using a Samsung Galaxy S5, and have updated it to the latest available Android OS. I recently saw that my phone was displaying a “No Mobile Network” symbol in the status bar on the top right hand side of the screen (Next to the Battery Status) and have since not been able to make any calls or make use of my SMS service. I tried checking my network Operators in Settings, as well as all the solutions I could find online. The *#*#4636#*#* does not work on my phone, and the IMEI number is there, no problems there. I cannot seem to find the problem. I even factory reset my phone, and it’s still not working. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch
Solution: Try taking out your SIM and insert it in another phone. If you can get service while the SIm is in another device then it is your phone that has an issue. Since you already performed a factory reset which didn’t resolve the issue then you may want to consider reflashing the previous software version back to your phone. Take note that this is not a Samsung supported procedure. If you do consider this step then I suggest you check on the popular android forums online for the exact procedure.
S5 Can’t Make Call After Lollipop Update
Problem:I’ve just upgraded my S5 to 5.1.1 lollipop.. The problem is that when i’m making a phone call the device is restarting over and over again.. Then repeating the call results the same.. The call is not going at all! Can you propose any solution to this problem please.
Solution: This issue is most likely caused by the old software data that has not been completely removed from your phone. This is old data is conflicting with the new software version which results in this issue. I suggest you backup your phone data first then do a factory reset to resolve this issue.
