Problem:Alright, so about a week ago, my S5 has stopped sending and receiving calls. I have tried many things to try to fix this issue. Including, getting a new Sim card, booting it in safe mode, doing a factory reset. But to no avail, I still cannot send or accept calls. What can I do to fix this?
Solution: Have you checked if the phone has a network signal? If no signal is present then this could be the reason why you are not able to send or receive calls. If your phone has a signal then the next step is to verify with your carrier if the account you are using is able to make or receive calls. Once you have verified that the account has no problem then it’s time to troubleshoot the phone.
Since you already replaced your SIM and did a factory reset then one other thing that you need to do is to check the network mode that your phone is using. Try to switch between LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect), WCDMA/GSM (auto connect), WCDMA only, GSM only and make a call under each mode.
If you are still unable to make or receive a call then this could already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Can’t Hear Call After Software Update
Problem: I purchased my phone used from an individual, the carrier was AT&T. She set the phone back to factory reset when she gave it to me, I put my Straight Talk SIM card into the phone and it worked great. Last week after doing the normal updates on the phone all of a sudden when I get or make phone calls no one can hear me unless I put it on speaker phone or talk on a blue tooth. I did everything that was suggested to me including factory reset. The issue is not fixed and now since factory reset my internet isn’t working properly, so now I have 2 issues. Since people can hear me on speakerphone or bluetooth I don’t see where it would be an issue with my mic. HELP !!!!!!
Solution: Try to check if the microphone is working by opening the voice recorder app and making a recording of your voice. Playback the file. If you can hear your voice then the issue could be caused by the software update. Since the factory reset failed to resolve the problem then you will need to flash the previous software version back to your phone. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
In case you are unable to hear anything from the recorded file then chances are the microphone of the phone could be defective. If this is the case you need to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Not Sending Message Or Make Calls
Problem: I activated my galaxy into straight talk about 2 weeks ago and I wasn’t able to receive calls or use the browser only. I called customer service and they gave me the wrong help so I left it like that. Today my phone isn’t letting me send messages or make calls but I can recieve them both but just wont let me take the call. I called again and they created a new APN for me and ended up helping my Internet only
Solution: You should first try to contact Straight Talk again and inquire if the text and call feature of your account is active. Once you have verified this then proceed with troubleshooting the phone.
For the text message issue just make sure that the SMSC number of your device is +13123149810. If your phone has a different number set then you won’t be able to send a text message.
For the call issue you should make sure that flight mode of your phone is off.
Press and hold On/Off.
Press Flight mode to turn the function on or off.
Make sure that you have good signal coverage when making a call. If you are out of range of the Straight Talk network then this may be the reason why you are unable to make calls.
S5 Specific Number Not Getting Calls Or Text
Problem:So my phone works great. I can send and receive calls and messages. Except for one person who I know hasn’t blocked me cuz we’re gf and bf. We talk on other apps like skype, snapchat, and whatsapp. She’s the only person who I’ve noticed this issue with. She tells me my texts don’t go through and also when I call it either rings once or twice and goes to voicemail. I’ve done the soft rest and also taken the battery out and still no luck. That’s pretty much all I can say about this issue. Oh and on the model number my Droid only says 5.0.. your choices were that with some lollipop thing which wasn’t on my phone.
Solution: When one person is not able to get your text messages or calls the problem is usually not on your end but on their end. Have them check if your number has been blocked on their device. Depending on the phone model that the other party is using the way to get to the blocked number list may vary. If your number is on the list then have them remove it. Another option that the other party should consider is to do a factory reset on their device. Just have them back up their phone data before doing this procedure.
S5 Voicemail Gets Deleted
Problem: Whenever a friend of mine calls me using her Bluetooth, she tries to leave a voicemail. Halfway thru her call, the phone says Message Deleted. I can get 5 voicemails, but only 2 actual calls came thru. I have asked ATT and they don’t know why or what the problem is. It only seems to happen when she calls. She has Verizon and lives in Ohio. I don’t know what to do other than buy a new phone which I may do when the new Samsung S7 comes out. In the meantime, is there anything you can tell me what I can do?? Thank you
Solution: Try checking first if the problem is caused by an app you installed in your phone by starting the device in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Check if the voicemail gets deleted in this mode. If it doesn’t then the issue is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
You should also consider doing a factory reset to eliminate any software related issues that could cause the problem. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing this. Once the reset is complete proceed with checking the voicemail.
S5 No Pop-Up For Incoming Call
Problem:There is no pop-up on the screen for an incoming call. I can’t tell who is calling even though the phone is ringing. Also, when the call screen does pop up during an incoming call, I can’t answer the call. I try pushing on the green answer button, but can’t answer the call.
Solution: For this particular issue you should first try to wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will delete the temporary data in your phone which could be causing the problem.
If the issue persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
