There are however instances when sending a text message can become difficult to do. This is what we will tackle today as we troubleshoot the Galaxy S5 will not send text messages issue & other related problems.

Problem:I am not able to send text messages. When I try to make a call, no matter what number I choose it it goes directly to Verizon Wireless and a message says to not hang up that I am being directed to financial services. I have tried a soft reset but it did not correct the problem. I am not sure if I can receive a call.
Solution: This problem is most likely account related since you can’t send a text and when you make a call you are redirected to Verizon’s wireless financial services department. I suggest you contact Verizon and have then check on the status of your account.
S5 Will Not Send Some Text Messages
Problem:I have a Samsung Galaxy s5 with Verizon and as of recently I cannot get some messages to send. It will send on my end but I have delivery reports set up and i will never get a notification that it was delivered it will just say sent as the status and report requested even if they have gotten the message. On other occasions I will send a message and when I check the status of the message it will say error code 1 and that will also not deliver.
Solution: When trying to send a text message make sure that you are in an area with good network coverage. If you are in an area where the signal is spotty then the phone will have a hard time sending a text message and sometimes will not send it at all.
If you are getting an error code 1 when sending a text message then this could mean that there is some network related activity that is causing the problem .Try to contact Verizon and inquire if there are any network enhancements being conducted in your area. If there are none then proceed with troubleshooting the phone.
The first thing you will want to do is to clear the cache and data of the messaging app. Follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If the problem still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
Regarding the issue on delivery reports you should first make sure that you have this feature activated. Next, check this feature by sending a text message to a recipient on the Verizon network and to a recipient on another network. I suspect you will only be getting the delivery report if the recipient is also on the Verizon network.
S5 Unable to add this recipient. The recipient’s number is not valid
Problem:Hi, my phone will not allow me to send text messages to my son on his samsung tablet. Every time I try I get a message that says ‘unable to add this recipient. The recipient’s number is not valid’. Yet I can ring him from my phone. He has put his phone chip into his tablet & is using that as his mobile. Can you help me with this problem.
Solution: This issue appears to be an issue in the messaging app. Make sure that you have entered the correct number when sending a text message. If possible you should also include the country code and the area code.
If the issue still persists then try wiping the cache and data of the messaging app that you are using.
S5 Cannot Send Outbound Text Messages
Problem: Since last night I can no longer send outbound text messages. Receive new messages O.K. The outbound text will circle waiting for a long time then just say FAILED. I can then cancel or retry and retry never works. Did the shutdown remove battery restart and cleared cache data from messages. no good
Solution: Try contacting your network provider and have them check is there are any issues with your account. Sometimes if there are issues then you will not be able to send a text message. You should also check with them if there are any network related problems in your area.
If there are no account or network issues then I would suggest you start your phone in Safe Mode then check if you are able to send a text message in this mode. If you are then the problem could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
S5 Not Receiving Text Messages
Problem:I have recently changed from an iphone 3 to a Galaxy S5 and since doing so all contacts in my phonebook receive the text messages I send them, but I don’t receive replies back from some (not all). The reply text messages I didn’t receive went to my old phone. I don’t have any problems calling them and all can call me it’s just a few text messages I can’t receive. I’ve checked that I haven’t inadvertently blocked them so do you have any suggestions?
Solution: This issue is usually caused by the messages arriving in your iMessage. Since the S5 does not have an iMessage you will not be getting the text message instead it will go directly to your iPhone. This usually occurs when your friends with iPhone’s send you a message and you haven’t deactivated your iMessage.
To resolve this issue follow the steps listed below.
Put the SIM card you transferred from your iPhone back into your iPhone.
Make sure that the phone is connected to a cellular data network
Tap Settings then Messages and turn off iMessage.
Tap Settings then FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.
If you don’t have access to your iPhone then just go to the Apple website and deregister from iMessage.
S5 Unable To Attach Photo To Text Message
Problem:After upgrading to android 5.1.1, I am unable to attach a photo to a text message. When I click a photo, there is only a send option in the upper right hand corner. With android 5.0, there was a done option. When I click on the send option, the photo is sent (although unsuccessfully in most cases) by itself with no text. Also, I am unable to receive photos by text (photos fail to download.) The phone worked perfectly with android 5.0, but does not with android 5.1.1. HELP PLEASE !!!
Solution: Are you trying to attach the photos from Google Photos? If you are then try attaching the photos from the stock Gallery of your phone. Several other people with this same issue say that when they switched to using the stock Gallery the issue disappeared. This leads me to believe that a recent update to Google Photos may be causing this problem.
Another troubleshooting step to consider is to go to Settings the Calls then uncheck the box for voice over LTE. This works for most T-Mobile subscribers having this issue.
If the problem still persists at this point then I suggest you do the usual troubleshooting steps such as clearing the cache and data of the messaging app, wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode, and backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset.
If after the reset the issue still occurs then you should consider switching to another messaging app such as Hangouts if you want to send a picture message.
S5 Sends Partial Text Message
Problem:Why when I send texts is the person that receives them getting either half of what I sent or only partial of original message and beginning is replaced with symbols of a language that isn’t even english? I have checked the settings,keyboards and languages already downloaded on phone and none of them are even the symbols that person receives. I recently replaced my galaxy 5 cause last one died on me from software or manufacturing issue. I thought this issue was related to that and yet get a new one and is still happening. I need an answer because it’s causing domestic issues with my spouse and it’s funny at all. Please get back to me so can end this stupid crap.
Solution: It’s possible that some form of corrupt data in your phone is causing this problem. Try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app first then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then I suggest you start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. Restart the phone then check if the issue still occurs.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
