The #Samsung Galaxy #S5 is a former flagship model that has several outstanding features. Released last 2014, this device is best known for using a wonderful display. One other feature that this model excels at is its battery life. Using a 2800 mAh battery this phone can easily provide 27 hours of 3G talk time, 9 hours of web browsing, or 11 hours of video playback on a single charge. Of course when the battery runs out there’s always the wall charger which charges the phone quickly.
There are however instances when charging this phone can become quite a problem. This is what we aim to resolve today as we troubleshoot the Galaxy S5 won’t charge issue & other related problems. While we have already discussed this problem extensively in our previous posts we would like to tackle the latest issues of this nature sent to us by our readers.

Problem:My husband’s phone won’t charge all of a sudden we could charge it for a couple if days turned off then we starting getting the yellow triangle and today it started all of a sudden turning on when we turn it off. Right now we both have the S5 active so we are swapping batteries. Then we got this we are screen of like a boot up. What could it mean no charger will work and it isn’t the battery
Solution: Here’s what you need to do to fix the problem. First, take out the battery of the phone as well as the microSD card if one is installed then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out the RAM. Next, inspect the charging port of the phone for any signs of dirt or debris. If necessary clean it using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Reinert just the battery then try to turn on your phone and charge it.
If your phone still does not charge then try using a different charging cord when charging your device. The charging cord you are using may already be damaged especially if it is constantly bent or coiled. If the issue persists then try charging the phone with a different wall charger as well.
If the phone still does not charge then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring the phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Will Not Charge
Problem:I just recently bought a new extended battery and charger it been working fine for the passed couple of days. But yesterday when I change and put the old battery back and now it wouldn’t charge for either one of the battery. I try to take the battery out and hold the power button for 1 min, and then 3 mins but it n still wouldn’t work. When I the phone power off with the charger plug in there is a white static line on the bottom screen it beep. But when I turned it on it still wouldn’t take charge. Please help. Thanks you.
Solution: The first thing you need to do is to check the charger port of your phone for any signs of dirt or debris. This interferes with the charging process and the presence of these foreign material may prevent your phone from charging. If necessary you should clean the charging port using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
Next, try to replace the charging cord then check if the phone now charges. This cord easily breaks especially if it is constantly bent or coiled. Follow this up by replacing the wall charger if the phone still does not charge. Make sure to only use a Samsung charger or a charger that is certified to work with the S5.
If the problem still occurs then you need to get another battery and see if your phone charges with it.
If at this point the phone still does not charge then I suggest you bring it to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Doesn’t Appear to Charge
Problem: Hi my phone died last night. I simply just forgot to charge it. This morning when i plug it into any charger including the one it came with. The green light blinking rapidly and nothing comes on the screen. The device won’t turn on!! Please help it doesn’t appear to be charging.
Solution: If the phone battery has been totally drained then it may take some time for the phone to respond after you connect the charger. Try to connect the phone to its wall charger for at least 20 minutes then check if it turns on.
If the phone still does not charge or turn on then disconnect it from the charger. Remove the battery and the microSD card if you have one installed. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This discharges the phone circuit and clears out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then try to turn on your phone.
If the phone does not turn on then carefully inspect the charging port of your phone for any signs of dirt or debris. If you see any then clean the port using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Connect your phone to the wall charger and let it charge for another 20 minutes. Make sure to use a different charging cord when charging your phone as the one you are using may already be damaged. If the phone still does not charge then try using a different wall charger.
If the problem persists then try to get a new battery as the battery you are using may already be defective.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Battery Drains Due To Unified_Daemon
Problem:Hi, I’m having an insane amount of battery drain with the unified_dameon. It started out of nowhere, and I’ve tried every solution I could find..I even resulted to a factory reset and it still came back. My battery goes down sooo fast and even goes down sometimes while charging. Please help! I haven’t gotten any new apps so I can’t understand what caused this. I have gathered that it is somehow connected with mees, weather, ect..I’d rather not have that than deal with this issue and even when I turn it off it still runs. My preference would of course be to have a fully functional smartphone but that doesn’t seem to be much of an option at this point. If this can be fixed please let me know.
Solution: The Unified Daemon is a Samsung pre-installed app that unifies the information in your device such as that from the weather app, stock market, and news. This app runs in the background and will use your phone battery as well as data since it is in-charge of refreshing the information of the apps that depend on it. You can set the app to refresh at longer intervals by going to Setting > Data usage > Unified Daemon then have it update to every 12 hours. Alternatively, you can also disable this app even if your phone is not rooted. To do this just go to Settings – General tab – application manager – all apps – Unified Daemon – turn off.
S5 Does not Start After Software Update
Problem:Okey.. So 2 days ago (2015-12-11) there was an update on my phone. I installed it and everything. But the thing is; Now I can’t start the phone. The only thing that comes up is: The normal “Samsung Galaxy”. White text and black background. The thing what happens is. It comes up as normal, vibrates and then turn black. And after that screen shows up. Vibrates and then turn black. And it goes like that over and over and over again.. Ive read ALOT of your threads about peoples with the same issues. But nothing works.. literally nothing. I’ve tried to reboot it, and everything that you guys wrote on the site. NOTHING works. And this makes me really mad. I hope you can solve my problem. It would’ve be great. REMEBER: I Downloaded the latest update. And after that all this happened.
Solution: It appears that the update may have corrupted the phone software. If you have already performed most of the troubleshooting steps that we have suggested without any success then the best way to resolve this issue is to flash your phone with its original firmware. You will need a copy of your phone firmware as well as the latest version of Odin installed in your computer. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
