Rumor has it, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 launch date is just a few weeks away in August. And rumor has it, the Galaxy Note 5 won’t be the only device that Samsung announces next month. No, the company is also rumored to have a larger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge up its sleeve, a device that’s supposedly called Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+. Here’s what you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ release.
For months, rumors about Samsung’s fall plans have been swirling above the heads of consumers in the United States and abroad. As we’ve started to push deeper into the summer, many of those rumors have started to firm up. And while we don’t have the whole picture, we have a lot of it, and it looks like Samsung’s gearing up for two big smartphone launches in August.
Galaxy Note 5 rumors have been emerging at a breakneck pace for a couple of weeks now and we’re finally getting a read on the Galaxy Note 4’s successor. The device is expected to come with some high-end features including changes to its design and it’s supposed to be coming out much earlier than anyone could have anticipated.
Instead of a launch at IFA in September, the Galaxy Note 5 will apparently arrive in early August with a release in late August ahead of the iPhone. That had consumers excited and it probably has them overlooking another exciting Samsung device that’s expected to debut with the Galaxy Note 5 next month.
The device is currently called Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and it’s expected to be the second part of Samsung’s two-pronged attack against Apple’s iPhone 6s Plus. We’ve been hearing a whole lot about the Galaxy S6 Edge+ in recent days and today we want to take a look at the five most important things to know about Samsung’s other big release.
Here’s what you need to know, right now, about the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and its release.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ Specs
Before we get into the Galaxy S6 Edge+ release details, we want to tell you about the device itself. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ isn’t confirmed just yet but thanks to an avalanche of credible rumors, it looks like this phone is the real deal and will perhaps arrive in place of a Galaxy Note Edge 2.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ isn’t a Galaxy Note. Instead, it’s expected to be a blown up version of the Galaxy S6 Edge, the flagship that arrived earlier this year. Recent renders hint at this and given the name, it’s safe to assume that this will be a big screen version of Samsung’s popular Galaxy S6 variant.
As for its features, you won’t be getting an S Pen but you will be getting a handful of other powerful features that should make it an enticing alternative to the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge, and others.
Samsung’s larger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge is expected to come with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display that bends over both sides of the device. If you’re familiar with the Galaxy S6 Edge, you’re already familiar with the Galaxy S6 Edge+.
The device is also expected to feature a Exynos 7420 processor with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 16MP camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, a 3,000 mAh battery, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Again, it’s essentially a phablet version of the Galaxy S6 Edge.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ Launch Date
Samsung still hasn’t confirmed the Galaxy S6 Edge+ but it doesn’t need to at this point. Rumors have been able to pinpoint the device’s launch month (August) and its exact launch date (August 12). Media invites haven’t gone out just yet but the information is fresh and credible and there’s no reason to believe that it will change.
This is the same day that Samsung’s expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 5 which means that you’ll likely have two new big screen smartphone options to look over in just a few short weeks.
Galaxy S6 Edge+ Release Date
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ release date still isn’t confirmed but it’s looking like it will be released alongside the Galaxy Note 5 in late August.
As we’ve noted, this is much earlier than the typical fall release window for Samsung and it appears that the company will be looking to get a head start on Apple and the iPhone 6s Plus.
We do know that the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be heading to the United States at some point, maybe sometime in the near future.
Today, several new Galaxy devices crossed through the FCC, a necessary step before they can be released to the general public. We saw the Galaxy Note 5 pass through the FCC’s clutches and we also saw two Galaxy S6 Edge+ models gain approval.
The AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge+, or SM-G928A, is one of the device’s that got certified today. This doesn’t mean that a release will happen tomorrow but it does mean that there’s a good chance the AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge+ release will arrive in the not-so-distant future.
Verizon Galaxy S6 Edge+ Confirmed
The Verizon Galaxy S6 Edge+ is confirmed as well. Like the AT&T model, it crossed the threshold today and it’s now clear for a release in the United States.
We haven’t seen models for Sprint, T-Mobile or U.S. Cellular yet though there’s a good chance that that these carriers will also stock this larger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge+.
The Galaxy Note 5: Everything You Need to Know Right Now
Seems they were on the right track. Another credible source, SamMobile, claims that Samsung will be launching the Galaxy Note 5 in August. And while media invites have yet to go out, they've been able to provide an exact date for the supposed Galaxy Note 5 launch date.
Their sources claim that the Galaxy Note 5 announcement will come on August 12th, much earlier than IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany. Samsung's used IFA to launch the past four Galaxy Note models but it appears that with the iPhone breathing down its neck, it will look to put a little separation between the Note and the next iPhone.
This isn't confirmed until Samsung confirms it but we fully expect the Galaxy Note 5 to launch in August. And it could arrive in August as well.
