The Samsung Galaxy S6 has been available for purchase over the past couple of weeks. And a new report now suggests that the launch of the smartphone has affected the sales of the Apple iPhone 6, which has been taking the markets by storm since late last year.
The report comes from ATLAS Research & Consulting and hasn’t been confirmed by either Samsung or Apple. The report says that Samsung sold 79,586 units of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in the first six days of the launch. The Apple iPhone 6 sales however reportedly saw a drop of 1,700 units with only 35,000 models sold in the second week of April.
Analysts claim that the decline in the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus sales are quite normal as the smartphone has surpassed the 6 month mark. The real challenge for Samsung will be to keep the demand going even after the 6 months mark. The imminent arrival of the LG G4 will not make it easier for Samsung either.
