After getting certified by FCC a few weeks ago, the Galaxy S8 Active from Samsung has leaked online. This handset will be the sibling of the flagship device Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus and sports a design similar to them. The Active series from Samsung have always come with an added durable body which is MIL-STD certified and will also sport a bigger battery capacity also. The device leaked in the images is an AT&T model and it does not feature a curved 3D glass and also has more bezels.
The S8 Active will be IP68 certified for dust and water resistance and is expected to be 1.5 times thicker than the original S8. The battery on the device is 4000mAh which more than the 3000mAH battery used in the S8 and also bigger than the 3500mAh battery used on S8 Plus variant. Interestingly even its predecessor, the Galaxy S7 Active also featured a 4000mAh battery. It will also come with Qi wireless charging capability and we will get more information on it once the device is launched.
The device will come out of the box with Android 7.0 Nougat and will be getting the further updates once they are available. We can expect 64GB of storage with a microSD card option to extend it further and will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM. The upcoming handset will be featuring a 12MP camera on the rear and will sport an 8MP camera on the front.
The Active Key button that we have seen with the previous Active variants is missing on this new device as it is being replaced by Bixby button. Apart from this, we don’t have much information of this handset which is going to be announced soon. What are your views on this Active series from Samsung? Do you use any of them?
