You will not be wrong in saying that the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is an unorthodox device. You do not need to look at it more than once to come to that conclusion, and perhaps that’s precisely what Samsung was shooting for. This does however give birth to a question that’s frequently asked. Is this device, which has a display that’s curved to the right, durable enough to withstand proper daily use? Samsung wants you to know that it really is.
The company took to its official blog to answer some questions about the durability and functionality of this handset, particularly that of its unique display. Since the display is curved to one side it is easy to imagine a situation where the device may fall on the ground and shatter the curved part of the display.
Samsung believes that won’t happen easily even if the device is dropped. It says that developers at the company had this problem in mind and they did more than 1,000 drop tests apart from other vigorous durability tests to simulate different angles from which the device may fall and what its impact might have over the curved side.
It assures customers that they don’t have to worry too much about this as not only the display itself is durable, but it has a metal frame which pops out a bit from the screen, which would take the first impact if the device is dropped or it slips out of the users’ hands.
Obviously this can not be taken as a license to throw your Galaxy Note Edge around like a frisbee. As long as it is used in a reasonable and normal manner, Galaxy Note Edge owners should have nothing to worry about.
