Quick, name your favorite Samsung Galaxy S series in the US! We won’t blame you if you have a hard time remembering all of the creative names that Samsung and US carriers have come up with. And the list is about to grow bigger, as the company has filed more trademark names that we suspect are reserved for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
The new names that Samsung have filed for protection are the Galaxy Thunder, Galaxy Express and Galaxy Accelerate. A short while back, the company has also secured the Galaxy Emerge, Galaxy Stellar, and Galaxy Halo monikers. It’s not certain yet if these are the names that the company will christen the Samsung Galaxy S3 with, but let’s just say we won’t be surprise if they will.
Here’s an ode to the dozen or so variants of Samsung Galaxy S models that we’ve all come to know and love in the US.
Samsung Galaxy S
T-Mobile: Vibrant, Galaxy S 4G
Sprint: Epic 4G
Verizon: Fascinate, Stratosphere
Other carriers: Mesmerize, Showcase, Galaxy Indulge
In many cases, the phones didn’t just receive additional branding, but they also went through some design changes. For example, the screen on AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket was bumped up to 4.52-inch. Some variants of the Samsung Galaxy S2, such as the Captivate Glide, featured a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, but this came at the expense of a reduced screen size and processor speed.

Only time will tell whether we’ll see those names on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 or not, but here’s what we do know so far about Samsung’s upcoming flagship device.
The Galaxy S3 is expected to come with a 4.8-inch full HD display, 1.5GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor, 8MP rear camera with zero-shutter lag, 2MP front camera, 4G LTE, Android 4.0, a ceramic case, and bezel-less design. If the latest rumors are to be believed, we should hear some official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S3 this month, with a full-blown launch following in April.
We know that it’s a very un-Shakespearean thing to do to worry about names, but what do you think of the possible names for the Samsung Galaxy S3 so far?
