Samsung has begun the Android 5.0 update rollout for the Galaxy S5 handsets in multiple regions already. But the manufacturer is yet to begin the widespread rollout of the update. That might have changed now with devices in Malaysia and Russia getting the said update earlier today.
The update brings the usual suite of changes that we associate with the Android 5.0 update along with some of Samsung’s own TouchWiz additions and improvements. So if you’re a lover of stock Android, you might be left a little disappointed with this update.
The new firmware is being issued through an OTA update, but customers in the region can also try their hand with the Samsung Kies software on their computers to pull the update manually. The company has clarified that American carrier variants of the smartphone will receive the update by the end of this month, so the wait shouldn’t be long now.
