The Samsung Galaxy S6 and theGalaxy S6 edge were supposed to be game changers for the company as initial demand was said to be very high. However, the company’s forecasted sales have suggested that they might have been expecting too much from its two flagships as a 4% year-over-year decline in profits is being forecasted.
The company was apparently expecting one unit of the Galaxy S6 edge to be sold for every Galaxy S6. However, that was not the case since the edge variant was heavily on demand, which essentially meant that a lot of the Galaxy S6 models were left unsold. The company hasn’t clarified any of this for now, but it is said that an operating profit of KRW 6.0 Trillion is expected from this quarter with overall revenues of KRW 47.1 Trillion.
While the company can seek solace in the fact that the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge have done better than the Galaxy S5 from last year, it’s nowhere close to the expected mark.
