Technology has conquered almost everything. From your radios, television to the house and satellites. But cars tech seems to be pretty static when compared to other technologies. Sure it has a touchscreen enabled console and GPS built into it, but major innovations are lacking in this segment. That is all changing soon as tech titans such as google, apple and Samsung have entered a race to make your car a smart car or even better, a self-driving car.
Samsung has announced that it is establishing a new division which will focus on entertainment and information as well as self-driving technologies necessary to make a car truly driverless. Google also has a prototype and has been conducting field test to measure the real world performance and abilities of such cars.
Apple is also rumoured to be building an electric self-driving car. That was evident when it poached tesla engineers who were key members in the electric and self-driving car technologies.
Samsung automotive division’s aim is yet unknown. The division will be under the vice chairman kwon oh-hyan and a group of electrical and automobile engineers have been formed to work for this division. The strength of this division is yet unknown.
But do not expect a self-driving car anytime soon. This technology is still in an infant stage and many more innovations and evelopments are required before a reliable self-driving car is possible that also protect its occupants.
Would you buy one of the cars if Samsung starts producing a self-driving car?
