It looks like Samsung is prepping the release of a new phone in India next month, and this phone is a little different from the rest — it has a huge 5,000mAh battery.
According to a report from FoneArena, the new device will be “a series pro device with 5,000mAh battery,” suggesting that it could be the Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro. The report suggests that the phone will be priced at 35,000 rupees or about $524.
It’s important to note that the Galaxy A9 Pro was actually announced in China back in March, however the phone has not been released in India yet. The price for this leak also lines up with the price of the phone in China — in China the phone costs 3,499 yuan, or approximately 35,765 rupees — which is pretty close to the 35,000 rupees revealed in the leak.
The device offers a 6-inch 1080p curved glass display, and is powered by a Snapdragon 652 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. The phone will ship with Android 5.1, and offers a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone also has a dual-SIM and a fingerprint sensor. As far as the design of the phone goes, it looks quite similar to the Samsung Galaxy S6, featuring a combination of glass and metal, and a premium look.
The specs certainly aren’t bad, however they don’t really compare to the specs of the new Galaxy Note 7. Of course, the best thing about the phone isn’t the specs — it’s the price for those specs.
Previously the Galaxy A9 Pro was tipped for a launch alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on August 11, however that didn’t turn out to be true. The phone will act as a more affordable alternative to the Galaxy Note 7, which costs a hefty 59,900 rupees (about $896) in India.
