Bored of bouncing birds around space? Looking for a fresh beastie-based challenge combining physics, toy sharks, bathtubs and rubber ducks? Well, that’s quite specific, but Android, as ever, delivers: Shark Dash.
The natural enemy of all toy sharks, rubber ducks, are doing their best to tease and torment the bitey leviathans of the bathtub, playing pranks on them and generally asking for it. Finally, crossing the line, the ducks kidnap Sally, the girlfriend of the hero of the piece, Sharkee, and it’s down to you to help him get her back.
Dragging Sharkee and his band of fanged-fish pals about by their tails across some 96 levels, there are puzzles aplenty to work out, normally in conjunction with the game’s impeccably realistic sense of physics, as you try to collect coins and, ultimately, take out the duck menace.
Gameplay is fun, intuitive and smooth, whilst the graphics are pleasingly cartoonish, helping to back up the, frankly, very silly principle and backstory to the game… of which we heartily approve.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Undeniably Angry Birds-esque, Shark Dash may owe a debt of gratitude to the furious fowl, but that’s no bad thing, because this game is just as much fun and, occasionally just as frustrating when all that physics malarkey fails to work in your favour. If a bit of nonsensical platform gaming fun floats your bath-boat, then Shark Dash is an excellent example to get your teeth into.
