Sometimes all you want is updates from your loved ones without all of the social media clutter.
Simplifi Me – All of your social media in one app for Android does just that. Here is some of the app’s description:
Simplifi Me allows you to manage all of your social media by following your friends across social media platforms including posting simultaneously to multiple social media and commenting on Facebook posts. You can share pictures and videos to Facebook and Twitter simultaneously and like Facebook posts and comments. You can also like tweets, Retweet and send personal messages to twitter contacts. Unlike other “all in one” social media apps it is NOT just links to various social media platforms.
Are you tired of trying to keep track of family and friends across multiple social media platforms?
The concept for Simplifi Me came about when my mother-in-law (don’t tell her that I told but she is a senior citizen) told me that she didn’t follow her grandchildren on social media because it was too complicated and she didn’t want to, or couldn’t, sort through all of the posts she has on different social media looking for their posts.
I said to myself “there must be an app that allows you to view posts from multiple social media for individual friends and family members”. However, no matter how much I searched it just didn’t exist.
Consequently, I set out to create an app that would allow users to follow their friends and family without having to sort through thousands of different posts on different sites to do so. I also made sure that the user interface is clean, clear and easy to read and that the app is intuitive and easy to use. This makes Simplifi Me a snap to set up and use for senior citizens and everyone else who doesn’t want to have to worry about hundreds of settings and bells/whistles…
Simplifi Me keeps the set-up process simple. A walk-through begins upon entering the app where the welcome screen displays a comforting disclaimer stating that you must allow access to your social media accounts but the app will not store or share your information with anyone. Account creation is next with the option to use an email address and password, or simply use your existing Facebook login. Link your Facebook and Twitter accounts by signing in on the settings page enabling you to now share your page on those networks. Once connected you can begin importing contacts from phone and both social media accounts, adding only those you select. This keeps things clean and simple as you can add as few or as many as you would like. You can even add contacts individually if needed.
The intention of Simplifi Me is a noble one. With all of the updates and information one can receive these days, it can be very overwhelming, especially for those that are older and aren’t technically inclined. The app gives you the same functionality with the ability to post updates, comments, likes, pictures etc. I was able to easily connect my account and import my selected contacts. The tricky part was adding their Facebook and Twitter. Most of the Twitter accounts came over without a problem. Facebook on the other hand, requires that the contact also have Simplifi Me. This can be a little cumbersome as not everyone is going to want to do this, but at the moment it is the only way it works. Viewing updates is not in one newsfeed but more like visiting the profile pages as you have to select the contact to view any updates on either page. I rather like the design and think this makes it much more user-friendly for older users to understand and operate. There is only support for Facebook and Twitter at the moment but additional social media platforms are said to be coming soon. The great thing is the app is free. It is ad-supported with a banner at the bottom of the screen, but it is very minimal.
For those wanting to create a family social network in a separate, easier to read app, this is the one to use. Simplifi Me – All of your social media in one app is available now on the Google Play store for free.
