It’s almost been five weeks since OMGPOP CEO Dan Porter teased the release of Draw Something 2, and had Ryan Seacrest advertise the title on Twitter. But it’s finally time to dust off your sketching fingers, because the sequel to one of 2012′s most popular social games is now available to download on iPhone.
The basics of the game are very much the same this time around; players take it in turns to draw all kinds of things, and then their opponent watches back their drawing and tries to guess what it is. But there are plenty of improvements in the new title.
In addition to over 5,000 new words — including support for nine-letter words and phrases — you’ll now find a number of new drawing tools. There’s a pixel pen, a pattern pencil, stamps, markers, highlighters, crayons, and more, plus a choice of more than 100 vibrant colors.
There are also some new game modes called Daily Guess and Daily Draw, which reward with coins, and for the first time ever, you can share the drawings you’re most proud of with your friends. In the original Draw Something, your sketches were lost unless you took a screenshot of them, but that’s no longer the case.
You get your own Instagram-like feed inside the app, where you can showcase all of your drawings. You can also follow other people’s feeds, like those of friends and even celebrities.
Draw Something 2 is available to download from the App Store now. You can play for free if you don’t mind advertisements, or it’s $2.99. There are also some in-app purchases that can be bought on top of that, but you don’t have to spend any extra if you don’t want to.
