Sky's decision to enter into a strategic partnership with Anthony Rose's Zeebox will mean that people with iPhones or iPads will be able to use their devices as remote controls.
In one of the niftier aspects of the Zeebox deal, Sky has confirmed that your phone or tablet will be able to act as a remote control.
When this is teamed up with the other aspects of the Zeebox-powered app - available later this year - you will have what Sky describes as a "comprehensive and fully integrated companion TV experience".
More importantly it'll give you something else to show off to your gran.
"From later this year, Sky customers will also be able to use a Zeebox-powered Sky app to access their Sky+ box on the move, so they can manage their Sky+ recording remotely, as well as using their iPhone or iPad as a remote control for their Sky box," explained Sky.
Sky's focus on apps is clear, with director of product development Brian Lenz telling TechRadar last year that it was a prime focus for extending the feature-set of the satellite television platform.
"We have the view that the companion device is the far more powerful place to bring advanced functionality," Lenz said.
