The newest Skylanders game, Skylanders: Trap Team is out now, with a version available for select Android devices. It is touted as being the full console experience on tablets, and has its own controller and base that go with it for the same price as the console release, $74.99.
Skylanders Trap Team is a Toys-To-Life game, meaning you use figures to unlock characters in the game, and other purchased separately items to play the title. The starter pack comes with two figures, all the other figures are available at retail at retail locations like GameStop, Walmart, and really any store that sells video games. Also included is the base, otherwise known as the Traptanium Portal, and traps that are used to capture enemies in the game. Devices officially listed as compatible are:
Kindle Fire HD (6", 7") - 2014
Kindle Fire HDX (8.9") - 2014
Google Nexus 7 (2013)
Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro (8.4", 10.1", 12.2")
Samsung Galaxy Tab S (8.4", 10.5")
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014), Galaxy Note Pro 12.2
If you are into Activision's mega franchise that isn't Call of Duty this is pretty cool. It's also a very expensive game, when you factor in the price of more figures, but that is the nature of this kind of game, which was pioneered with the first entry Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. In the same "genre" now are Disney Infinity and Nintendo's upcoming amiibo figures.
