The Galaxy Note 7 saga is no laughing matter. Given how Samsung produced not one, but two batches of faulty devices prone to catching fire, melting, and exploding, the South Korean phone maker potentially put hundreds of thousands of people in danger. As if that isn’t bad enough already, Samsung still has no idea what went wrong with the device as the company is still investigating the matter over a week after permanently discontinuing its latest flagship.
With that said, Halloween is approaching and people can always use a laugh. Cue Facebook user Chris Kiley who just made a costume out of half a dozen Galaxy Note 7 boxes. Better yet, it smokes on demand thanks to a somewhat hidden mechanism which looks like a large tube attached to a vaporizer. The inner workings of this unique costume are yet to be revealed by its creator but even if Kiley never posts a detailed guide, this can and possiblywill be replicated easily enough come Halloween. While Galaxy Note 7 owners who had the misfortune of experiencing fire-related problems with their device probably won’t be too entertained with this Halloween costume, many Facebook users disagree. Namely, Kiley’s video is currently shared all over the world and already boasts over 2.2 million views. In other words, the smoking hot costume went viral and that certainly isn’t good news for Samsung.
Namely, the fact that a viral video mocking Galaxy Note 7 is circulating the Internet is yet another indicator of potential long-term damage which Samsung may suffer due to what happened with its latest flagship. One worldwide recall is bad enough but a second one is absolutely terrifying for the company which claimed that it has managed to fix the issue and assured customers replacement units are perfectly safe just a few weeks ago. Given how an average consumer doesn’t exactly follow tech news on a daily basis, this fiasco could easily poison the entire Samsung Galaxy lineup including older devices, result in a loss of brand value, market share, and consequently – revenue. All in all, Samsung is under a lot of pressure and it remains to be seen how the company will react to increasing complaints about its business practices and transparency.
