Snapchat is launching a new Discover feature that is, in essence, Snapchat Stories but for online video and photo publications. Snapchat Discover brings together photos and videos from a variety of external sources, as well as Snapchat's own internal content.
Discover is different because it has been built for creatives. All too often, artists are forced to accommodate new technologies in order to distribute their work. This time we built the technology to serve the art: each edition includes full screen photos and videos, awesome long form layouts, and gorgeous advertising.
Like a standard Snapchat Story, Discover is also refreshed every 24 hours with new curated content. Launch partners include ESPN, Food Network, Comedy Central, People Magazine, National Geographic, Cosmopolitan, CNN, Vice, The Daily Mail, and Yahoo. And it's all going to be ad-supported, so maybe Snapchat can start making some money.
