ASUS has hosted a press conference a couple of days ago during Computex 2016 in Taiwan. This Taiwanese smartphone manufacturing company has introduced a number of new products, including their new ZenFone 3 handsets. The company has unveiled the ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Ultra and ZenFone 3 Deluxe smartphones. The ZenFone 3 is their base model, and the most affordable one out of the bunch. The ZenFone 3 Ultra is the company’s huge phablet, while the ZenFone 3 Deluxe is Asus’ newest flagship, and the most powerful smartphone they’ve ever introduced.
All of these phones ship with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC on the inside, which is, next to Exynos 8890, the most powerful mobile SoC on the planet at the moment. That being said, a new report surfaced claiming that ASUS might release a new variant of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe which will be fueled by the yet unreleased Snapdragon 823 processor. According to the source, this variant of the device might be available in specific markets only, like Philippines and India, for example. The Snapdragon 823 is basically identical to the Snapdragon 820, except for the fact it’s a bit faster thanks to higher clock speeds. The Snapdragon 820 runs at 2.2GHz, while the Snapdragon 823 is rumored to be clocked at 3GHz. This is also a 64-bit quad-core processor, and it also supports up to 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM, just like the Snapdragon 820. The source says that the Snapdragon 823-powered ZenFone 3 Deluxe will become available in August this year, and that its other specs will be identical to the regular ZenFone 3 Deluxe model, except for internal storage, the phone might be available in 64GB storage variant only, that storage will be expandable though.
The ZenFone 3 Deluxe is made out of metal, and its antenna lines are basically invisible thanks to ASUS’ design. The phone ships with a 5.7-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED display, 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB / 256GB of expandable internal storage. The 23-megapixel snapper is placed on the back of this device, and an 8-megapixel shooter can be found up front. The 3,000mAh battery is also a part of this package, and the device comes with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box, while the ASUS’ ZenUI 3.0 skin is available on top of Google’s operating system.
