If you thought our addiction to social networks might start to ebb away any time soon, then you're sorely mistaken. And no more so than in gaming is it that users are gagging to share their latest gaming experiences with their friends and the online community. And the latest platform to make the experience more mobile is Player.me, the uber popular gaming network, who have just released apps for Android and iOS.
With Player.me, users can post status updates and share pictures and videos with the community, like games within the app, and post “now playing” updates by tagging their current games. And when they aren't doing any of that, gamers can spend their sweet time browsing the database of more than 50,000 game pages.
But by far the best feature in Player.me is the ability for users to connect to their YouTube (Android, iOS) and Twitch (Android, iOS) accounts to add their video content to their profiles for others to view.
As with most social networks, with Player.me users can follow others and view their new posts, plus browse posts from all users in a “discover” feed, liking and commenting on content that catches their eye. Posts can also be pinned, which adds them to a “pinned” feed for easier viewing later on. And of course, what would a gaming network be these days without a messaging function?
CEO of Player.me, Sean Fee, said of the move to mobile: "There is an opportunity to create a real home for players to communicate, socialize, compete and create content. The players have been asking for our mobile applications for some time now, so we’re really excited to see how Player.me is used cross-platform."
