Nokia has announced the roll-out of a new software update for the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710. In case you forgot, these two smartphones are running Windows Phone 7.5 OS. The new features come automatically after you have installed the software update which according to Nokia is being rolled this month and next month. To get the update, you need to connect your Nokia handsets to your computer via USB cable and fire up Zune. And what are these new features and functions? They come in two namely, Internet sharing of Wi-Fi tethering and flip-to-silence. Internet sharing as you all know allows you to share your mobile Internet connection via Wi-Fi with up to five other devices or computers – turning your Lumia 800 or Lumia 700 as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. Flip-to-silence on the other hand turns your phone’s incoming phone calls and alerts to silence when its face down.
Aside from these two features, the software update will also let you download and install some new apps from the Windows Phone Marketplace. These include camera extras which enhance your phone’s camera capabilities including the ability to capture group shots with just one attempt, take images of movement and action better, set the camera into self-timer mode, and capture wide landscape images in panorama mode. Other new apps worth taking a look are Contact Share for sharing business cards via SMS and Play To for sharing pictures, videos and music from your phone to DLNA-capable devices.
