Problem #1: Battery drain problem after updating Samsung Galaxy S4 to Lollipop
My device was working fine with KitKat 4.4 then i got the official update of Lollipop 5.0.1 and it was working perfectly for month but now all of sudden i am facing two issues:
abnormal battery drain
i have tried safe mode option but both issues are still same. So, is this hardware issue or software?
P.S i have changed battery as well but issue is still same. — Sami
Solution: Hi Sami. Using Safe mode is useful if you suspect that a rogue app may be causing the problem. If the two issues happened after Lollipop update, other potential solutions would be to wipe the cache partition and do a factory reset afterwards. Doing these steps can help ensure that the caches being used by Android, including the one that stores old and possibly corrupted files, are removed. If nothing changes after doing all these, you must be out be out of luck. Just get a phone replacement.
Problem #2: Samsung Galaxy S4 not detecting networks upon updating to Lollipop
GT-19505 on orange, having upgraded to Lollipop now it says networks unavailable, was working before upgrade, spent hours searching for solutions, none worked, tried to access service mode with *#0011#, back, then input 1, back but nothing happens…tried different SIM cards but still same…any advice would be appreciated before i sell it for spares….– Chris
Solution: Hi Chris. We have not heard a similar problem from our readers so this must be a unique new case. Please try to restore the phone to its factory defaults via master reset and see if that makes any difference. If the firmware is causing this problem, a factory reset should fix it.
Problem #3: No Lollipop update yet for Samsung Galaxy S4, How to update Samsung Galaxy S4 to Lollipop
Hello. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 device, model I-9506. I still cannot update my software to Lollipop. I have totally reset my device and try every day to get the software update, but still nothing to see. Is there a solution or do I have to wait? — Speerstra
Solution: Hi Speerstra. Over-the-air (OTA) updates usually depend on your carrier’s schedule so there’s no telling when your turn will come. Try to use Samsung Kies and see if you can update the device using it. Otherwise, please call your network provider and ask them how to do it.
Problem #4: Rocka Bowling 3D app does not work with Lollipop-updated Samsung Galaxy S4
Before the Lollipop update I had downloaded and played a game called Rocka Bowling. Once the update took place, I played a couple of times then it wouldn’t allow me access any longer. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it multiple times and nothing. I was able to Bluetooth it to another device from my device and it worked fine. However it don’t work on my device anymore. Please help me get my favorite game back. Thanks in advance for ur help. — April
Solution: Hi April. There must some compatibility issue at play here. Upon checking Rocka Bowling 3Din Google Play Store, it shows that its most recent update was done on May 16, 2012. That means that the developer have stopped updating this app making it not fully compatible with the new Android Lollipop.
Please contact the developer and ask their assistance regarding this matter.
Problem #5: Samsung Galaxy S4 screen mirroring problem on Lollipop update
I screen mirror on my Galaxy S4 and now sound no longer comes with image as it used to. My devices I am working with are a Sony Bravia LCD TV, Sony Bluray & Roku. I took this problem to the Samsung store at Best Buy and they witnessed the problem on their Samsung TV. We Googled your “S4 Screen Mirror No Sound” procedure. The Samsung store followed it & wiped out the cache partition & that did not solve the problem. The store said the next best option is MHL, a wired solution & they showed that it worked. I am curious if this was a casualty due to migration from KitKat to Lollipop?? Will screen mirroring ever work the way it used to? — Joseph
Solution: Hi Joseph. There is a separate downloadable support patch for screen mirroring from Samsung in Google Play Store. Please install it on your phone and see it still works. Alternatively, you also contact the team that develops screen mirroring here.
Problem #6: Network-related issues after Samsung Galaxy S4 was updated to Lollipop
Connectivity to 4G data goes in and out like crazy. No network available issues when searching with Google and other “no network available” errors with other apps/browser. 4G icon goes on and off when this occurs. Only a restart will bring it back and even then, sustainability is poor at best. This also effects receiving emails and other pushed data. No issues until Lollipop update. — Ed
Solution: Hi Ed. Must be the firmware causing your network woes. Please wipe the cache partition and do a factory reset.
Problem #7: Online game stops working when Samsung Galaxy S4 was updated to Lollipop
Hello. I’m reporting some issues from my Samsung Galaxy S4 that it has a bad server and it’s not from my network Wi-Fi problem. How did I knew?? Will downloading some video games that supports multi-player game which works on online it doesn’t work because of the bad server I think when I update my 4.0 to 5.0 something went wrong. I hope you understand me.
It’s all about the server I’m trying to play some online games on my phone but it doesn’t want to work because of the weak server and they are no issues with my Wi-Fi network. Thank you for your help .– Thamer

Problem #8: Email syncing problem after Samsung Galaxy S4 Lollipop update
Hello. Is there a solution to this problem? Yes I’ve tried everything that’s been posted on fixing this syncing problem but nothing works for me. I’ve updated to the new Lollipop version and that’s where the problem started. Nothing pushes or notifies me on my phone. When i turn Wi-Fi on it then shows all new mail and any other notifications but not over the mobile data? if I turn off and then on the sync it will update but only the once never again till you repeat the on/off of sync? any solutions?
Thanks for reading. — Steve
Solution: Hi Steve. Under normal circumstances, this problem can easily be fixed by going under Settings>Data usage and making sure that there’s no data limit and that auto sync option is checked.
If that won’t fix your problem, kindly delete the cache partition and do a factory reset.
Problem #9: How to close all opened apps at once in Lollipop updated Samsung Galaxy S4
Hi. I just read your article about some problems that occur on the Samsung Galaxy S4 after the recent Lollipop update. I have a question concerning my phone. I have included a screen shot.
When I hold my menu button I get this screen (in the photo). I used to be able to click the button on the far right bottom and it would automatically close all open windows with just one tap. Since the Lollipop update, I now have to click the “x” at the top right of each window and close them out all desperately. Is there a way to just be able to “close all” with that button on the bottom right?
Thank you. — Sherry
Solution: Hi Sherry. The only way to close all apps at once if you are in this screen is by tapping the “Close all” option marked in red rectangle below in the photo below.

Hi. I have had nothing but problems with my phone since the last update ( within last month) don’t know what update it was…. kaki? Lollipop? not sure but, I have had my phone for 2 years and NEVER had a problem until that update!
My phone battery doesn’t last 24 hours now, used to last like 2 days.
Sometimes my notification works when I get a text, but not always. My Bluetooth sometimes cuts out to doesn’t work and I’ve never had a problem with it before either.
Like I’ve said, I’ve had my phone for 2 years and love it, never had a problem with it.
