Remember the days of playing Sonic the Hedgehog on your Sega Genesis? Well, Sonic is back to his roots with Sega’s newest Sonic installment “Sonic Runners”. In Sonic Runners, Sonic returns to it’s high speed, 2D, side-scrolling roots but combines them with the endless runner aspects of Sonic Dash. Sonic Runners debuted in Japan on February of 2015 and now it’s available worldwide as a free download on Google Play.
Featuring Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, players race through a challenging endless world where they must navigate the high-speed environment to collect rings and gems. At the same time, they must avoid enemies from all directions.
Players have the opportunity to set records in four categories: “Rival League”, “Friend,” “World,” and “Historical.” Sonic and his companions can power up with Chao and friends to gain bonuses like speed, gem collection, and more to gain an edge over your friends and rivals.
At this point if you’re not having 90’s flashbacks, then you either fell exclusively in the SNES camp, lived in a bomb shelter or are younger than 30. If you fall in the latter category, don’t worry, this isn’t just a nostalgic flashback. Anyone can enjoy this fun side scrolling endless runner, so what are you waiting for?
