Spurred by a week's worth of strong sales in Europe, Australia and North America, sales of the PS Vita topped 1.2 million worldwide this week, Sony Computer Entertainment announced this morning in a press release.
The PS Vita launched in Japan on Dec. 17, selling 321,407 units in the first two days there, according to Famitsu. But sales quickly dropped off bringing in about 400,000 total sales for 2011.
Software sales around the globe for the Vita also saw a spike with the expanded launch of the portable, with worldwide numbers hitting 2 million, according to an SCEA release.
