At the onset of July, word has it that there’s been a lack of PS Vitas at retailers in North America. Put plainly, the portable system has been out of stock for some folks.
A quick check on Amazon tells us that, yes, the PS Vita is low on supply. It’s only available from third party sellers on the internet’s largest store, and that means that Amazon itself is out of stock.
Polygon hit Sony for comment regarding the recent shortage. Here’s their response:
“We’re seeing healthy consumer demand for PS Vita globally, particularly in markets like Japan…
…The U.S. launch of the slimmer and lighter PS Vita has generated strong interest among gamers, and we’re working to replenish supply here to ensure continued momentum leading into the holidays.”
Sony has recently suggested that it’ll no longer work to bring top-tier AAA games to the PS Vita. Instead, the focus has shifted towards indies and smaller games. Does that help or hurt your personal demand for the platform?
