Sony is one of the manufacturers that has committed to developing TVs that are powered by Google’s Android TV platform and the company’s first lineup of these televisions was shown off back at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2015 in January. Since then we have been waiting to hear about pricing and availability information and now the company has finally come through with that crucial information.
Sony is charging significantly less than it asks for the flagship XBR-75X940C which retails for $7,999. The company today announced pricing for three of these models, the 55 inch X900C, the 65 inch of the same series as well as the 75 inch X910C, they will be priced at $2,499, $2,399 and $5,499 respectively. All three models will be available for purchase starting next month.
Android TV is a relatively new smart TV platform that Google is offering to OEMs for TVs as well as set-top boxes, a couple of set-top boxes running this platform have already been released in the market.
It provides access to a plethora of streaming applications, games and much more. The TVs also have support for the PlayStation Now game streaming service which allows them to stream PlayStation 3 games right on the TVs without having to plug in a console.
