Expected to be released in the UK and other European markets starting March, the Sony Xperia S will also be introduced in Australia – and it looks like this will happen pretty soon.
Ausdroid quotes and email from Sony Ericsson Australia’s Chief Marketing Officer, who mentions that the Xperia S should be launched “this Spring” – meaning Autumn in Australia, hence in May the latest.
For the moment, there are no carrier-specific launch details, but I assume at least one of Australia’s major operators (Telstra, Optus, Vodafone) will want to offer the new handset.
The Xperia S will run Android 2.3 Gignerbread at launch, but an update to Android 4.0 ICS has been promised for later this year. The smartphone’s features include a 4.3 inch HD (1280 x 720) display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 12MP rear camera.
