Sony has started sending out the Android 5.0 update for the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra phablet as well as the Xperia C3 smartphones. These two handsets are the only devices apart from Sony’s Xperia Z flagships that were expected to get the coveted update.
Sony is one of the few OEMs out there that is rolling out the said update to its midrange handsets. Most manufacturers have started the Android 5.0 update rollout, but only for their flagship devices. This shows that Sony is committed to having even its midrange devices running the latest build of Android.
As for the update itself, it will introduce a handful of familiar changes for the customers, including a new lockscreen, some Material Design elements and overall fluidity of the user interface. Although Sony isn’t keeping it stock here, users will immediately notice some of the major changes that we associate with Lollipop.
The update will change the version number to Android 5.0.2, which is the last known version of Android before Android 5.1. Sony hasn’t announced its intentions to rollout the Android 5.1 update as of yet.
Do you own the Xperia T2 Ultra or the Xperia C3? Have you seen the update on your devices yet?
